My Original Post on this Page[edit]

I had been contributing to Wiki for years, mostly to pages about rock music, but often did so without signing in. To be honest, I don't remember my old user name(s).

I created this latest name, and perhaps I will finally maintain a somewhat active User name, in order to try and create a Blitzkid page. I can't imagine why others' previous attempts to establish an article on the band were unsuccessful, but I also cannot imagine on what grounds my stub would be deleted, as it establishes noteworthiness by quoting Huffington Post and Allmusic, and connects to noteworthy artist Doyle of the Misfits. Update: I make small to moderate edits to many (mostly) music articles, but to date here are the seven that I have either written from scratch (with subsequent helpful edits by a bunch of kool kats), or have done a majority of the writing on:

Here's a history of the 7 pages I have done the most work on (my minor edits are all over the place, on everything from Ramones and The Misfits to Rockabilly, and I do check on them regularly).

I couldn't understand why there was no Blitzkid page. They are notable IMHO. So I created a user name, not remembering my old one(s), and got started by cutting and pasting a template from an article I had visited a lot, for a band called The Groovie Ghoulies, and then just deleted and rewrote the particulars. I thought that article would be about the right size for Blitzkid (ironically, due to meeting resistance, it ended up being a much more complex article than my GG model). I did a lot of work on that first article (I am a school teacher and did this over summer break 2014). Days on end, you know, barely getting off the computer to urinate. In what ended up being an early stage of the article, I submitted it to AfC, and was at first declined, which was upsetting but led to a better article. On my second attempt though, a pair of editors gave me some great help and eventually, the thing was done.

Plena Libre was a "pay it forward". One of the editors referred to above pointed me to where a lot of languishing rejected articles were listed. I selected one at random and upon seeing it was a musical group, one that had been Grammy nominated (by now I had all but memorized Wikipedia:Notability (music)), I said to myself "oh yeah, I can do this easy." So technically I didn't quite start it from scratch, but it's original form seemed to be entirely a cut-and-paste from promotional material with non-neutral language like "Plena Libre have what it takes to keep delivering" or some such. So basically it was a 100% rewrite.

Mister Monster was my next selected topic. I worked on a draft, but felt it wasn't robust enough. I would search for more sources from time to time, but it was on hold. When I wasn't paying attention, someone else published it in the form I had left it in! It has since been up for deletion, but survived, on the strength of the group having been reviewed in Germany's Ox magazine, and the band leader's notable collaborations with other artists. The band is active, and as with all 5 articles, I will continue to look for ways to improve it.

The Cryptkeeper Five was a pre-existing article that was up for deletion. I did a lot of work on that one, ordering books, paying for online subscriptions to newspapers, and hitting the old search engine a lot (as one does). It survived the deletion process on a "no consensus" split decision. I think its current form is maybe 70% my work. As I wrote in the previous summary, this is an article about an active band, and opportunities for article improvement should surface.

I just wrapped up The Stimulators; this one was kinda easy by my standards. I had already read the books. Did some additional research and got the whole thing done in one morning while sick on the couch. Did some additional research and improvements today. Can't imagine how this one fell to me, but am quite happy to have done it.

I think I might do an article on Agnostic Front's Vinnie Stigma next. Besides that band, he was in the Eliminators, has a solo album, helped found and occasionally plays live with Madball, co-owns NYHC tattoos, and is generally a large, notable presence in underground rock even apart from his legendary band. A scene "godfather". And doesn't have an article yet. (update Feb 2020-I never got around to that, for whatever reason. Currently I am thinking about maybe adding more to the Dickies, and maybe starting an article for the Sic F*cks).

I really would like to enthuse about the musicians I have been privileged to write about, and some of the fun I have had doing "research", but that would imperil the neutral position I should have. And this page is not to be a blog in any event. I'll keep it general. I love music, and found out in school that somehow I have a bit of a writing talent. Since my career utilizes other talents, and since no one I know in real life can really relate to my music obsessions, this is a nice outlet for me.

I sincerely believe that these are 7 notable artists, and have endeavored to demonstrate that. I have kept the tone neutral, and have included the "bad reviews" when appropriate. More to follow I hope.

Update 1/1/2020. I just completed a 6th article, Shrapnel (US punk band). A lot of fun. So, it did exist before I touched it, it was literally 5 sentences. 5 good sentences, but there you have it (it's 7 paragraphs now, and has a discography). I've been fascinated with this band for a very long time. They only recorded 10 songs in their day, and there is a great clip of them performing combat love on the old Uncle Floyd Show on YouTube (with Dave "Monster Magnet" looking for all the world like Johnny Ramone's kid brother just got drafted). They feature notable members, you can read about it in the article, but they had a grip on my imagination because as a kid I read about them both in my older brother's old copies of Punk Magazine, and in my copy of Amazing Spider-Man Annual #14 (1980)! When I came across that comic as a kid (which was a back issue a little before my time) I was like "wow, I know that band!" (from Punk Magazine). I searched for them in record stores to no avail, but in these internet days, it's all changed. So real happy to do it, finally there's a longer, better summary of them in one place. There was enough out there about them, but all over the place. I put it together the best I could, and am reasonably happy with it. A sentence or two about the circumstances of them breaking up, or what happened with their Elektra deal or whatever, would have put a bow on it, but as far as I can tell, this info is not available, save in the minds of those who know (not me).

Feb 2020, The Dickies: Well over 90% of the current article is mine, notwithstanding the discography/videography sections and the infobox. Really enjoyed this one, and its my longest work so far. Their history is robust enough for me to keep finding stuff to add. Big fan of this band, btw, since I was a kid in the 80s. Hope to hear feedback from Leonard or Stan some day (I've communicated with subjects from most of the other articles, with generally positive feedback).
