Let me start off by saying my name is Kayla. I am a senior (010!) at Croatan High School, and currently enrolled in AP Biology. I have many interests and can’t make up my mind have the time. My high school years really got me interested in science, (I used to dread doing science) especially after my previous course in biology. I enjoyed learning about the organs, systems, genetics, and all that jazz. Besides school, I love to run, and I am currently on the school’s cross country team as one of the senior captains. My proudest moment so far in high school is becoming a North Carolina Governor’s School West Alumni!! Like I said earlier I’m indecisive half the time, much like me trying to figure out what to write in this. So to which college I am looking at going to, I am not quite positive. Mainly, I am looking at UNC Chapel Hill, but would like to see what else is out there; unfortunately I have a limited time. After I finally pick my colleges and do the endless hours of filling out applications, I hope to study pre-medicine or biology. My main interest for career wise is medicine and particularly with children, although right now I am not sure I want to go the general pediatrician route. This is one of my reasons for taking AP Biology this year; I thought about it sophomore year but was too scared at the time. So here I am trying again with a stronger interest in science. I have a busy packed schedule this year; it’s better than sitting at home being bored. So as you can see I have a lot of hard work ahead of me but hopefully it will pay off!
My Assignment
My main reason, practically my only reason, for joining the Wiki community is because of my AP Biology Project. We are assigned as a group of 3 to pick an article, edit it, and hopefully bring it up to GA standards (our side goal is to bring it all the way up to FA status – wow). I am excited and nervous about this. I think this is more interactive than a research paper, not to mention I will probably retain the information more since I’m putting a lot of hard work and hours into this project. Not to mention it will keep me from procrastinating, which I need to fix that habit!
