The Apocryphal of the Virgin Mary, also called the Secret Gospel of the Virgin Mary,is falsely attributed to Mary, mother of Jesus. It was probably written in the city of Ephesus (Apocryphal of the Virgin Mary 1.1) and by the apostle Saint John, author of John's Gospel. It was probably written in the city of Ephesus (Apocryphal of the Virgin Mary 1.1) and by the apostle Saint Jonh, author of Gospel of Jonh.

The apocryphal, like other childhood gospels, for example the Childhood Gospel of James, states that São Joaquim and Santa Ana are Mary's parents. In addition,it advocate perpetual virginity of Mary.

Intertextuality[edit]

"1 And, the third day, a good news at the Galaile, and there were no markedly salt; And he was there the mother of Jesus. 2 And Jesus were invited and his disciples for the nodes. 3 And, the wine was missing, the mother of Jesus told him, they do not have wine. 4 Jesus said, Woman, who have I conclude? I still do not arrival my time. 5 His mother told employees: I do everything as he tells you. 6 And there were six stone stoves, to the purifications of the Jews, and in each one cably two or three meters. 7 And Jesus said to me, I fill up these steaks. And they filled them up. 8 And he said to them, I took away now and take the master-room. And they took. 9 And as soon as the Master-Sao has proved the wine water (not knowing from where he had come, well that knew the employees who had taken the water), called the Master-room to the spouse. 10 And he said unto him, Every man first puts good wine and, when they have already drunk well, then, the bottom; But you have so far well the good wine. 11 Jesus thus beginning his signs in Canah of Galilee and manifested his glory, and his disciples believed him. 12 After that, he went down to Cafarnaum, he, and his mother, and his brothers, and his disciples, and there were not many days."(John 2)

"Who can resist a mother's request? ”, Jesus replied, according to the Secret Gospel of the Virgin Mary, in the wedding episode, before performing his first miracle. And, after the miracle, Mary tells him:"What did you expect? Did you believe that with miracles and your speeches people would be converted and their hearts would be transformed? Dear son of mine, you have to accept things as they are, and in the same way you have to accept men (…) You have to cheer yourself up and move on (…). ”

[1] 39 And when they had finished fulfilling everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their city of Nazareth. 40 And the boy grew and strengthened in spirit, full of wisdom; and the grace of God was upon him.41 Now every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Passover Feast. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem, according to the custom of the feast day. 43 And when they returned, those days ended, the baby Jesus remained in Jerusalem, and his parents did not know it. 44 However, thinking that they would come along with him on the way, they walked the way one day and sought him out among their relatives and acquaintances. 45 And when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem in search of him. 46 And it came to pass that, after three days, they found him in the temple, seated among the doctors, listening to them and questioning them. 47 And all who heard him admired his intelligence and responses. 48 And when they saw him, they marveled, and his mother said to him, Son, why did you do this to us? Behold, your father and I were anxiously looking for you. 49 And he said to them, Why are you looking for me? Don't you know that it suits me to do my Father's business? 50 And they did not understand the words he was saying to them. 51 And he went down with them, and went to Nazareth, and was subject to them. And his mother kept all these things in her heart.52 And Jesus grew in wisdom, and in stature, and in favor with God and men."(Luke 2)

According to Luke's Gospel, Mary and the doctors do not understand Jesus' words, however, in the apocryphal, Mary grew in understanding of the mystery of God that involved Jesus and herself and Mary is praised by the doctors of the temple for their son's eloquence and wisdom, as also seen in Gospel of Pseudo-Matthew.
