Points and Certifications System[edit]

Singles[edit]

Gold Platinum
500+ Points 1,000+ Points
  • Certifications are awarded to singles, first and foremost at JayJ47's Music Charts (JMC's) sole discretion. Generally speaking, a song must earn at least 500 points in order to receive a Gold certification and 1,000 points for a Platinum certification. However, a single is eligible for a Gold or Platinum certification if it has met the minimum threshold for that particular certification as explained in the table below. After attaining a Platinum certification, a single will be awarded a new certification each time it achieves an additional 500 points (e.g. 2× Platinum for achieving at least 1,500 points or 3× Platinum for achieving at least 2,000 points). After receiving a 5× Platinum certification, singles will be awarded a new certification each time they achieve an additional 600 points (e.g. 6× Platinum for achieving at least 3,600 points or 7× Platinum for achieving at least 4,200 points). When a single is certified 10× Platinum (6,000 points) or higher, it will be awarded a new certification every time it achieves an additional 1,000 points.
However, some singles may receive certain certifications even if they have not met the minimum threshold or earned the minimum amount of points required for those certifications. This usually occurs when JMC feels that such a certification is warranted for that particular single e.g. when a song has not performed well on JayJ47's Music Charts and thus has not earned many points but still deserves a certification.

Albums[edit]

  • Certifications are awarded to albums, first and foremost at JayJ47's Music Charts (JMC's) sole discretion. An album's certification is determined by the amount of points earned by its singles. All of the points earned by its singles are added together to give the album's total number of points, which in turn is used to determine its certification. As of July 20, 2013, an album must earn at least 1,000 points in order to receive a Gold certification and 2,000 points for a Platinum certification. All previous certifications awarded to albums released prior to this date were changed in accordance with these new rules. Generally speaking, an album must earn at least 1,000 points in order to receive a Gold certification and 2,000 points for a Platinum certification. However, an album is eligible for a Gold or Platinum certification if it has met the minimum threshold for that particular certification as explained in the table below. When an album is certified 3× Platinum (6,000 points) or higher, it will be awarded a new certification every time it achieves an additional 1,500 points i.e. 4× Platinum for achieving at least 7,500 points, 5× Platinum for achieving at least 9,000 points and so on.

People's Choice Awards[edit]

In 2014, JayJ47's Music Charts introduced four new peer-nominated/public voted categories: JMC's People's Choice Awards for Best Single, Best Album, Best Artist and Best Australian Release. This marked the first time in JMC history where public votes were used to determine the outcome of JayJ47's Music Awards. The nominees in each category were determined by a select group of members on australian-charts.com and public voting was conducted via the same website, with voting closing at 11:59pm on December 19, 2015.

The following points system was used to determine the winners of each category:

  1. By default, each nominee receives 2 points.
  2. Each nominee receives 1 additional point for every individual vote they receive.
  3. The nominee with the highest number of points in each category is named the winner of that award.

Records, Significant Achievements and Notable Events[edit]

The following is a list of records broken, significant achievements made or notable events that occurred throughout the year.

  1. From February 20, 2015 onwards, the charts are compiled on Fridays and published the following day.
  2. On March 14, 2015, Nick Jonas became the first artist in the chart's history to reach number-one on a secondary chart without first having had a single chart on the mainstream singles chart. His single, "Jealous" topped the iTunes Airplay Chart.
  3. On April 11, 2015, new thresholds were introduced to ensure that singles in particular would be awarded more accurate certifications in the future. Singles and albums released before April 11, 2015 will have their certifications determined by the old certifications system. However, this did not apply to singles and albums that were currently in the chart.
  4. On May 2, 2015, a number of new records and/or feats were achieved. G.R.L. broke the record for most consecutive weeks spent in the top ten as "Ugly Heart" logged its thirty-seventh successive week in the top ten. The previous record of thirty-six consecutive weeks was held by Avicii and Nicky Romero's single, "I Could Be The One". G.R.L. also equalled Avicii and Romero's record for most weeks spent overall in the top ten and Maroon 5's record of most weeks spent in the top five overall. Charlie Puth meanwhile, became the first artist in JayJ47's Music Charts history to have their first two entries on the chart debut in the same week. His debut solo single, "Marvin Gaye" debuted at #6 whilst his collaboration with Wiz Khalifa, "See You Again" opened at #18.
  5. On May 16, 2015, G.R.L. broke Avicii and Nicky Romero's record for most weeks spent in the top ten as "Ugly Heart" rose 11–8, thereby recording its thirty-eighth non-consecutive week in the top ten.
  6. On May 23, 2015, G.R.L. extend their record for the most weeks spent in the top ten to thirty nine with "Ugly Heart".
  7. On May 30, 2015, Bojana Stamenov became the first Serbian recording artist to appear on JayJ47's Music Charts after her single, "Beauty Never Lies" debuted at #2 on the mainstream singles chart. The song also opened at #1 on the Hot Shots singles chart and the iTunes Airplay Chart, thus making Stamenov the first Serbian to top a secondary chart on JayJ47's Music Charts. Similarly, Voltaj became the second Romanian act and the first Romanian group to enter the chart after their single, "De la capăt (All Over Again)" debuted at #18.
  8. On June 13, 2015, Uzari and Maimuna became the first Belarusians to chart on JayJ47's Music Charts after their single, "Time" debuted at #7 on the mainstream singles chart and #1 on the Pop/Rock singles chart.
  9. On June 20, 2015, Uzari and Maimuna become the first Belarusians to reach #1 on JayJ47's Top 25 Countdown. As a result, their single, "Time" also becomes the first Eurovision entry to top the chart.
