The Welsh Wicipedia has over 90,000 articles, and is the most visited Welsh language Website on the web. Health related articles ar among the most frequently viewed and yet the number of health related articles is very low compared to other Wikipedias. Therefore, this project aims to create accurate and informative health related articles for the Welsh speaking population
The Project[edit]
With a Grant from the Welsh Government and in collaboration with Wikimedia UK the National Library of Wales will run this project over 9 months.
The project aims to generate 3,000 new articles using a range of techniques including an outreach program, a series of 4 Edit-a-thon events at different locations throughout Wales, through automating content creation and by securing access to existing text on an open license.
We will work with Health care professionals and language and technology experts in order to check and standardize Welsh translations of medical terms.
