Article evaluation[edit]

Hi Professor, I found some parts in Event management page need to be modified. I list my suggestion as below:

The process of planning and coordinating the event is usually referred to as event planning and which can include budgeting, scheduling, site selection, acquiring necessary permits, coordinating transportation and parking, arranging for speakers or entertainers, arranging decor, event security, catering, coordinating with third party vendors, and emergency plans. Each event is different in its nature so process of planning & execution of each event differs on basis of type of event.

Also, some categories in Event management should have their own page, such us Event manager, and Event Venue.

The paragraph of Sustainability should be categorized under Type of Event, and more types of events should be added.

The paragraph of Technology should be categorized under Tools, and also more should be explained.

These are interesting thoughts. Can you relate some of these to the questions I asked you to consider for the assignment itself, H0187160?
  1. Is everything in the article relevant to the article topic? Is there anything that distracted you?
  2. Is the article neutral? Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?
  3. Are there viewpoints that are overrepresented, or underrepresented?
  4. Check a few citations. Do the links work? Does the source support the claims in the article?
  5. Is each fact referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference? Where does the information come from? Are these neutral sources? If biased, is that bias noted?
  6. Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that could be added?
  7. Check out the Talk page of the article. What kinds of conversations, if any, are going on behind the scenes about how to represent this topic?
  8. How does the way Wikipedia discusses this topic differ from the way we've talked about it in class?
Let me know your thoughts to at least 3 of these --- FULBERT (talk) 18:49, 4 February 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the advices, professor FULBERT. I wrote my thoughts of 3 of the questions as below for your review:
Great! FULBERT; make sure you are always logged on before you post or comment! FULBERT (talk) 23:54, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
3. I think some parts, such as Sustainability and Technology, are underrepresented. They both need more content to elaborate.
4,5. For the citation and reference, I am good with the current ones, but I think this page needs more citation to support its claim, like I marked above.
7. Some suggest emerging event management and event planning together, but I disagree. I think managing and planning are different, even we might have no plenty content, we still should create two different pages for each one and highlight the difference in the content.H0187160 (talk) 07:53, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

Event Manager[edit]

The event manager is the person who plans and executes the event; and takes responsibility for the creative, technical, and logistical elements. This includes overall event design, brand building, marketing and communication strategy, audio-visual production, script writing, logistics, budgeting, negotiation, client service and supervise the services of all outside vendors and professionals, which includes event planners.

Responsibility[edit]

There are several specific responsibilities that companies expect from an event manager, includes, but not limited, the following:

  • Event monitoring
  • All parties, such as outside vendors coordinating
  • Speakers or entertainment engaging
  • Schedule controlling
  • Budget controlling
  • Periodical report
  • Transportation and parking arranging
  • Emergency contingency plans designing
  • Crisis and situation managing
  • Necessary permits and appropriate insurance arranging
  • Health and safety standards managing

Other responsibilities and skills of an event manager would depend on the scope and type of different events.
