Groovemaneuvers (sometimes written separately) is the title of an archival organization dedicated to preserving and archiving all related media (magazines, photos, videotaped footage) pertaining to the Funk music collective known as Parliament-Funkadelic and all related acts. It was launched in 1990 by New Jersey-based funkateer Tim Kinley, who currently resides in Columbia, South Carolina

Origins[edit]

Tim Kinley has been archiving the music of P-Funk since 1978, right after the release of the hit single "Flash Light". Since then he has diligently collected every P-Funk release including releases by related spin off acts. Since 1992, he has maintained a close relationship with the P-Funk leader George Clinton as well as many prominent figures in the band.

Notable projects[edit]

Beginning in 1993, the Groove Maneuvers archives were approached by Brazen Hussy productions, a production company headed by television director Yvonne Smith to be involved in the making of a documentary entitled "Parliament-Funkadelic: One Nation Under A Groove". Initially brought on as vendor, Mr. Kinley was eventually promoted to consultant. The documentary was televised in November of 2005 on PBS. Because of Ms. Smith's involvement in another PBS series, "Rock And Roll", the GM archives were also involved in that project as well, contributing footage to the series fifth episode "Make It Funky".

During this same time, the GM archives were approached by MTV productions to assist them on an episode of the VH-1 series "Legends". Their segment on George Clinton aired in November of 1999. To date, none of the aforementioned projects has been released on DVD.

The GM archives has also assisted in the development of, or has been credited in the following music CD's:
