Heinrich Berütz (12 August 1910-1985?) was an German-Polish Wermacht soldier, with rank of Gefreiter in years 1937-1942 and after SS-man trooper performing service in the title of Scharführer, in 1942-1944, in Warsaw and Auschwitz. reproached of abuse on Jewish and Polish civilians in Warsaw. But acccusations have never been confirmed.

Early life[edit]

Heinrich Berütz was born in little village Ochelhermsdorf in west Prussia. His predecessors came from Poland in XVIII, so he grow up in familly with Polish traditions (In house his family often used Polish Language). When Heinrich was four years old his father Siegfried, (then major of Ochelhermsdorf) went to army as a field medic in World War I voluntarily, what then met with big respect by villagers. From 1928 to 1934 Berütz has to learn medicine from his father and personal teacher. Heinrich, was always very interested on father's and Grandfather's work.

Army and War[edit]

in 1937 Heinrich Berütz was incorporated to German Wermacht, thanks to his Medicine education, Heinrich served (like his father) as Field-medic. Berütz has his baptism of fire in 1940, in Battle of the Netherlands, his abbilites was very helpfull during battle. Berütz was awarded by iron cross, and promote to Gefreiter rank. When the Allied line of defense in Beneluxhas been broken and Berütz with his group take part in paris occupation. After in 1942 when Berütz's division was resolved, Heinrich get the opportunity of join the SS and transfer to General Government, to occupied Warsaw.

General Government[edit]

In Warsaw, Heinrich Berütz then with rank of Scharführer, together with his SS group, take a part on jews deportation to Auswitz. During this period Berütz tried to hide his polish roots. it also known that Berütz during his Service experienced Mental breakdown because of cruelty of his own soldiers on Polish citizens.
