Ethan Paslowski

Ethan "Big Dawg" Paslowski was born on June 7, 1999 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. His family moved to the small municipality of Quill Lake, Saskatchewan shortly after. Ethan is currently enrolled in Grade 11 at Humboldt Collegiate Institute.

High School[edit]

Grade 9[edit]

Ethan Paslowski began his journey to greatness at the tender age of 14. Coming in as a Grade 9, Ethan was already the biggest guy on the team and had high hopes. He began his rookie season as the staring Weak Tackle on the HCI Junior Team. After an undefeated junior season, Big Dawg turned his attention to the senior team, where he started on the field goal unit. On October 18, 2013, Paslowski made his first start against the Tisdale Tornadoes. After a hard fought battle, HCI lost and their playoff hopes were dashed. They finished the season with a loss to Nipawin, however Ethan's real season was just beginning.

Ethan Paslowski spent his offseason playing JV basketball and minor hockey. On the basketball team, Ethan was a the backup center, a spot he didn't like one bit. However he got through the year and met his lifelong friend Adam Duke. On the ice, Ethan put up a staggering 62 points. He then took his talents to the links, where he won the fifth flight at the lobstick.

Grade 10[edit]

Ethan was riding high after starting as a Grade 9. Ethan showed strong in the first week of practice and was named a team captain by his hero, Jamie Zaluski. Ethan made a career altering decision and swapped to the offensive side of the ball. Dylan Stadnyk provided tough competition for Paslowski, and Ethan was placed on the second line. However, due to the fact he was a captain, his ego was still quite high. He developed well in his new role on the junior team, who he helped to another undefeated season. The big man also scored a touchdown after Defensive End Jordan Seipp recorded one of his many sacks and forced a fumble. Paslowski's selfish instincts then kicked in as he kicked the ball out of Seipp's hands and scooped it up. He then bursted into a rare sprint and was aided by Seipp who took out the only man in pursuit.

Ethan didn't crack the starting lineup on the senior team that year, as HCI finished the season with a 2-4 records. However this was still good enough to earn a playoff spot. After a come back victory against Jamie Zaluski's former club (Foam Lake Panthers) and a blowout win over the Shaunavon Shadows, the Mohawks found themselves in the provincial final, where they were defeated by the Clavet Cougars 19-11.

After the season, Ethan was named the co-offensive junior player of the year, an award he shared with Grade 10 Quarterback Landon Seipp. Paslowski then too to the court, where he was named team captain of the JV team. Although he was dealing with an ankle injury throughout the season, he never let it get in his way and never used it for an excuse. However, Head Coach Ron Roach did not like the way Paslowski conducted himself on the court. After countless technicals and missed free throws, the season finally wrapped up with a trip to the Apex trampoline park.

Paslowski then wrapped up the school year by attending the Kelly Bates Football Camp, where he was subsequently robbed of the Junior Offensive Lineman of the camp award. He then proceeded to golf at the lobstick and attend the Sask Huskies football camp in August.

Grade 11[edit]

The Big man entered the season as confident as ever. He was named a captain for the second straight season and finally earned a starting spot on the offensive line alongside Cody Weyland and Jordan Seipp. The Mohawks started the season off strong with a win over the Clavet Cougars. The next week, the Mohawks faced Cole Gisi and the Tisdale Tornadoes. After an injury to Jared Giddings, HCI was in desperate need of a punter. Thankfully, Paslowski was ready to take the next step in his football career. He became the first center in the history of the universe to double as a punter as the Mohawks beat up on the Tornadoes. Ethan also recorded his first tackle as he lightly pushed the punt returner out of bounds. The season wrapped up with two blowouts over the Nipawin Bears, despite a couple heroic performances from stand out linebacker Brandon Duncan, another victory over Tisdale and a morale destroying victory over the Melfort Comets. The Mohawks found themselves in a first round match up with the Martinsville Royals. Paslowski demonstrated his expertise with numerous cut blocks. Ethan and the Mohawks pulled out the "W" with a score of 15-3. However the following week the outcome was much different as the Warman Wolverines defeated the Mohawks in the provincial semi-final.

Following the season, the Mohawks handed out their season awards. However, Ethan did not win anything, as the top lineman award was given to Jordan Seipp.
