Bhai Sahib Satpal Singh Khalsa (born August 1, 1956) also known as Satpal Singh Kohli, is an Indian-American Kundalini Yoga teacher and an advocate of Sikhism in the Western Hemisphere.[1][2]

Background and education[edit]

Singh Khalsa was born in Madras City of Southern India where he grew up.[3] He did his high school at Summer Fields School in New Delhi. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree from St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi. He moved to the USA in 1978 and studied at Santa Fe College and California State University in Los Angeles. He later received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Sikh Theology.

Career[edit]

Singh Khalsa moved to Los Angeles, California, where he ventured into the business and became a partner in GRD Enterprises. In 1986, he started a business in Canada. He partnered with notable Indian property developers and started SPI real Estate International. He also partnered with the Pacific Group of Companies and engaged in the hospitality business in Las Vegas, Nevada.[4]

Singh Khalsa's spiritual journey began with his involvement with Sikh Dharma, 3HO, and other related organizations. He became a certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher. After the death of Yogi Bhajan in 2004, Singh Khalsa dedicated his life to spreading the message of Guru Nanak and started traveling and giving lectures in various locations across the globe.[5]

Singh Khalsa is involved with World Peace and Interfaith Organization, United Nations programs on Clean Water and Sanitization, and other related organizations. He serves as the Chairman of Guru Ram Das Sikh Mission of New Mexico, America.[6] He also serves as the Secretary International Affairs for Siri Akal Takhat Sahib-Amritsar.[7]

Singh Khalsa is the Director at Miri Piri Academy in Amritsar, India. He serves as a Sikh Dharma Minister.[8] He is a Peace Ambassador for HWPL, a South Korean Peace Organization and an ambassador for the Parliament of World Religions.[9]

Honors[edit]

Singh Khalsa was honored with the title Baba Sahib by the Sikh clergy for his efforts in propagating the Sikh religion in the Western countries.[10] He was also honored as the Ambassador of Sikh Dharma by the Jathedar of Patna Sahib Ji.[11]

In 2007, Singh Khalsa was elevated to the knighthood order for dedicated services to Sikhism. He attained the robe of honor (Chola Sahib) at Hazur Sahib.[12] He also received an NRI Gold Medal from the British High Commission in India.[13]

Personal life[edit]

Singh Khalsa married his wife in New Mexico in July 1978 and they two daughters.
