From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Handbook of Oriental Studies (German: Handbuch der Orientalistik) is an important international series of books on Oriental studies published by Brill in Leiden since 1952.[1] Bertold Spuler (1911–1990) was one of its first editors. The series is divided into various departments, volumes, and sections (The Near and Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, China, Japan, Art and Archaeology, Central Asia) and in 2007 comprised of over 250 volumes. Due to its structure and its long editorial history, it is difficult to gain an overview of the work as a whole.
