Derek Gleeson.

Born in Dublin, Ireland.

Music Education:

He studied Piano, Music Theory, Timpani and Percussion at the College of Music, Dublin, and at The Royal Irish Academy of Music. During his teens he performed as Timpanist and Percussionist with the Irish Youth Orchestra (IYO) and the European Community Youth Orchestra (ECYO, later renamed the European Union Youth orchestra, EUYO) He continued studies of Piano and Timpani and Percussion at The Royal Academy of Music, London and began conducting studies with Harry Newson at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Later with Karl Osterricher at the Hochschule for Musik, Vienna. Moving to Los Angeles is studied Film Scoring at the University of California at Los Angeles, (UCLA)
