Virgie Hyman Cone Virgie H. Cone was born on September 3, 1908 in Brooksville, Florida. Cone is the daughter of the late Rev. George Hyman and Virgie Horne Hyman. Cone got her undergraduate degree at Florida State College, where she was a member of the Omega chapter of the Sigma Kappa Sorority, and her masters at The University of Florida. Virgie Cone began working as an educator at Lee High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Cone worked there for many years; she served many purposes for the school system working as a teacher, a guidance counselor, the dean of girls, and of course as their first female principle.
