I'm new to this Wiki stuff. Suppose I just edit this page to talk to you. Just wanted to say thanks for you formatting on Kesternich. Looks really great with your help!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tom macknight (talkcontribs) 20:08, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Great Sioux War of 1876-77

Thank you for your note. I am fine with blending the appropriate sections together. The war is normally referred to in the literature at the Great Sioux War of 1876-77. The term "Black Hills war" as used by one submitter is inaccurate. While it began over the Black Hills issue, it quickly expanded to much more, including the extension of the Northern Pacific, etc. I will continue to work on it, add references, etc. Any help you can offer would be most appreciated. Request for comment

Can you comment on a change made by Nyttend on the Sheridan, Wyoming article? I asked him what he meant by "excessive links"; but' he(she) has not responded.Thx DutchTower 03:24, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

I'll see if I can help. To further the Wikipedia goal of not being a directory, most editors use the external link guidelines to help determine which external links are suitable, and which are not. Specifically, we want to try to limit the external links to those articles that are best suited to teaching the reader more about the subject, while trying to keep away from commercial websites (for obvious reasons). The guideline I generally use is the first: Any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a Featured article.. I don't want to speak for Nyttend, but that is probably their motivation as well.... Hopefully this helps. I'll go ahead and fix up the article. Thanks. - CosmicPenguin (Talk) 15:14, 6 October 2007 (UTC)(snipped)
Thanks for the pointers. I have apologized to Nyttend. thanks again DutchTower 00:19, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate the comments on Shell Creek. This is a new hobby for me. I have plans to improve this article; I just wanted to get it out there. I also think Shell Canyon should be part of this article instead of one of its own. Whaddaya think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dutchtower (talkcontribs) 00:41, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Rock Springs massacre

Hey there CosmicPenguin. Since it has been about three months since Rock Springs massacre was featured, I am planning on going through it again to see if I missed anything, checking prose for brilliantness etc, if you would be so kind as to take a look when you have time, and make any changes you see that are needed it would be most appreciated. Hey, my article for NX Fusion gaming PC's is being deleted. Why is it thatAlienware or dell or hp can have a page, but not The NX Fusion brand? Please let me know. Thanks.

Ok, i understand, but when will an article for NX Fusion be able to be created. What exactly has to happen for an article on them to be approved? —Preceding unsigned comment added by AA7HBS (talkcontribs) 02:43, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Montreal Roadrunners

Sorry if I used the wrong tag for the Speedy Delete. I don't have a problem with you fixing it if you know a better one. Perhaps that is asking too much as you are not in favour of the deletion. Is it really true that the encyclopedia deems league teams in any city, in any sport, even roller ball, to be worthy of note? This entry didn't say what sport was involved. I don't have strong personal feelings about this. It just seemed very little said about very little. I suspect the logo is not free use, though I did not tag it. Perhaps I should just stay away from sports. :-) Bielle 04:07, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Casper Ghosts

Just a recommendation, don't be so quick to rush to judgment. There's already too much of that on this site. Anyway, I think it would be a lot cooler if they called themselves the Wyoming Rockies. It utilizes the parent club's name as a homage, but it fits the state of Wyoming just as equally.

Also, if you're a fan of the Ghosts, here's a user box:

I'm actively working on the %&#@Y& article, and really wish you'd chill the F out, slow the F down, and at least leave me a few minutes to get stuff done before you go about costing me 2 pages of original content via an editorial conflict because you couldnt' F-ing wait to get your mitts into things. I REALLY don't appreciate this sort of interference, nor wasting my efforts.

Cyrus (Film) deletion

I have deleted your tag out of the article. and I wanted to let you know that it is not fair to tag an article for deletion when you didn't understand the or didn't fully read the article. The external link to that documentary didn't have anything to do with the movie Cyrus (which is does not have release date set yet). It was only mentioned there as a form a reference that this project exist and it is confirmed by someone else. I'm not sure whether videos are considered to be a reference so I put it under external links.

so for your purpose I have taken out that reference so you can't assume it was to gain any support or donation or fund to that person who made that documentary. 19:12, 16 November 2007 Zirnevis

Hello CosmicPenguin,

I wanted ask to see if you could check over the entry regarding Cislo & Thomas LLP. I understand how it looked like a blatant advertisement in the beginning, but i'm doing what i can to make sure it is a successful addition to Wikipedia. I want people to know the firms history and clients, but obviously within the limits of allowances by wikipedia. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

Confounded mountains!

Dear CosmicPenguin,

Yes, I believe you may be correct. I may very well have confounded the Owl Creek Mountains with the Medicine Bow.

Sadly, some of the resources upon which I once depended have been removed from the online presence of, e.g., the Texas state archive. I have attempted to remedy the lacunae through private inquiries to them, and various others (UT map department, etc.) and shall endeavour to set this matter to rights as promptly as possible.

Unfortunately, my own Google fu is not yielding anything of an official nature. I shall, meanwhile, remove the edit from the Owl Creek Mountains pending further discovery.

Regards,

Jim —Preceding unsigned comment added by Planetaryjim (talkcontribs) 03:15, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

References on the Shoshone page

Hello CosmicPenguin. I noticed that you had done a lot of work to protect the Shoshone page from the absurd amount of vandalism it has received. Now someone has removed the references from the page, and it is buried in lots of other changes. Personally, I'm not sure what to do in cases like this, so I'm hereby requesting your aid in restoring them. Satyriasis (talk) 09:51, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Recreated article

Hi. An article that is substantially identical to one that was deleted in a valid AfD can be speedily deleted under WP:CSD#G4. Specifically:

Recreation of deleted material. A copy, by any title, of a page deleted via a deletion discussion, provided the copy is substantially identical to the deleted version and that any changes in the recreated page do not address the reasons for which the material was deleted. This does not apply to content that has been moved to user space, undeleted via deletion review, deleted via proposed deletion, or to speedy deletions (although in that case, the previous speedy criterion, or other speedy criteria, may apply).

In the future, you can request deletion of such articles using Template:Db-repost. Cheers, TenOfAllTrades(talk) 14:12, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations

Norris, Madison, and Fishing Bridge Museums

Thanks for your comment that perhaps the 3 separate museum articles ought to be merged into the one article about all 3. I guess I agree, but I didn't want to make an abrupt change to the articles, which I had never visited before 2 days ago, and who knows who feels great ownership over the articles. So I did put merger proposal tags on all four of the articles, and if there are not objections, the mergers can be done in a while. Thanks! doncram (talk) 07:04, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. Of the four people, all were red links, including Frison, who was listed simply as "George Frison". I've not looked at the ambassadors notability criteria, so I didn't remember that they were inherently notable. Thanks for the note! Nyttend (talk) 00:30, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Medicine Bow Peak

CosmicPenguin,

Not that it's really a big deal, but your recent edit on the Medicine Bow Peak page is the most recent in an endlessly frustrating line. That picture is certainly a better picture, of a nicer peak, that is NOT Medicine Bow Peak. Medicine Bow Peak sits some 250 feet higher than the pictured summit. In fact, this misconception is pretty common: Old Main, while a more prominent feature and more commonly viewed summit, is not Medicine Bow Peak. In the interest of accuracy, the picture I submitted is in fact Medicine Bow Peak. I'm not citing a reference except that I have been a mountain guide on the Snowy Range for going on 9 seasons. Safe to say, I know my way around. Thanks.

Touch the Clouds

I have rewritten the biography of Touch the Clouds. Its still a bit rough and needs some more refences, but I will add them over the next few days. I also changed out the phoograph to a better copy of the same image. I moved the discussion about whether he was at the Little Bighorn to a footnote. Hope this is what you needed. ephriam —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ephriam3 (talkcontribs) 05:48, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Geysers and Hot Springs InfoBox Templates

CS: Just got back from two weeks on the road and thought I'd spend a few days up-scaling the Yellowstone Geothermal articles with your new template. Is the template something that has be be moved to the main space first, or can I work with the one in your user space.--Mike Cline (talk) 14:37, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

CS - I attempted to add an element to the template: name origin. I did so by copying another element and changing the data. When I use it, it appears OK in the infobox, but leaves some stray text outside the box. There's an example of this at: User:Mike_Cline/Template_Infobox_Hot_Spring What am I doing wrong?--Mike Cline (talk) 23:04, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
CS - I successfully added a group of map parameters to the infoBox and have added them to one of the geyser articles: Grotto Geyser. What do you think? Does it add to the article?--Mike Cline (talk) 18:06, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

{{Yellowstone-geothermal-stub}}

Hi - a stub template or category which you created has been nominated for deletion or renaming at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type, which was not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, does not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 22:57, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Yellowstone Task Force

Lamar River, January 2009

CP - Great idea. I linked the Task Force page on the Montana Projects talk page as well. Hopefully we'll get some more work done on Yellowstone stuff. I was always surprised that there wasn't some central place to think about and organize all the Yellowstone stuff. Not quite sure what to make of the Stub deletion proposal, I've never understood how the WP:Stubbies operate. BTW: I spent about 4 hours today at Mammoth and in the Lamar Valley just nosing around and taking a few frozen river pictures. --Mike Cline (talk) 00:09, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Tongue River article

I am learning as I go here.

First, is this message box the way to talk to you?

Second, what are you. You comment and add helpful changes to my article from time to time, and while anyone can comment or change it, you seem to make a periodic review, like a subject matter editor.

Third, about the name, could we change it to "Tongue River (Montana, Wyoming)". The river is important to both states, but the segment in Wyoming is to small to sustain a separate article. (Since writing this, I see there is a "Tongue River(Wyoming)" that redirects to "Tongue River (Montana)"

Fourth, I have found a map from the USGS site, http://mt.water.usgs.gov/projects/tongueriver/ which is better than the map on the article, but so far I haven't been able to figure out how to insert it. It is from the federal government so shouldn't it be available to the article and to the public. Could you direct me to a tutorial or provide some other instruction that would be helpful.

Fifth, I see that the article is still rated stub class. Surely it has risen above a stub.

Someone, I think you, suggested photos, and I will gather some when the winter is over.

Thanks for your consideration.
