A study was conducted on the west coast of the United States to see ocean acidification’s effects on pteropods.[1] Limacina helicina was used to test the sensitivity of increasing pH. [1]The shell of a pteropod was immersed in ocean water with the projected pH level that the water will reach by the year 2100.[1] After a month and a half in the water, the shell had almost completely dissolved.[1]  The arctic food chain would be disrupted by the near extinction or migration of polar bears. Arctic sea ice is the polar bear’s habitat. It has been declining at a rate of 13% per decade because the temperature is rising at twice the rate in terms to the rest of the world.[2] By the year 2050, up to 25000 polar bears will vanquish if the sea ice continues to melt at its current rate.[3]
