Main characters[edit]

Teresa Mendoza[edit]

Kate del Castillo stars as Teresa Mendoza

Portrayed by Kate del Castillo, is the girlfriend of Raymundo "El Guero" Dávila, a supposed drug trafficker for a Sinaloa cartel.[1] When he is killed, she decides to flee the country. She decides to go to Spain. She starts a job in a cafe, where he meets a good friend, Fátima Manssur. In addition, she gets to know Santiago López Fisterra alias "El Gallego".[2] He is a smuggler and runs drugs from Africa to Spain through the Strait of Gibraltar.[2] She begins to help him in these missions. In one of these missions, an unexpected accident occurs, where El Gallego dies,[2] and Teresa is stopped by the police. In jail, he meets Patricia O'Farrell a new friend and confidant who calls herself "La Teniente".[3] Upon leaving the jail, they start a new drug trafficking company and establish links with the Russian mafia.[3] She also begins a new relationship with her assistant, Teo Aljarafe, a man she becomes pregnant with, and whom she orders to murder for betraying her with the Spanish government.[4] The Spanish government baptizes her with the nickname of La Reina del Sur for her successes bringing drugs to southern Spain. After fleeing his enemies and the Spanish government. The Mexican government offers him a deal so that he can escape the law if he testifies against Epifanio Vargas in order to destroy his power in the cartels and the political field in Mexico.

Epifanio Vargas[edit]

Portrayed by Humberto Zurita, Epifanio Vargas is the antagonist of the series. He is El Güero's godfather whom he orders to be murdered after he learns that El Güero is in fact an infiltrated agent of the DEA. Epifanio is the head of the Sinaloa cartel, but he also wants to be president of Mexico. After the death of El Güero. Let Teresa escape and even he helps her flee to Spain. In addition to being El Güero's godfather, he is also the secret father of Ramiro Vargas "El Ratas", because of a drunken night when he had sex with his sister-in-law and she became pregnant. In the end, Epifanio decides to send his son to assassinate Teresa, for the reason that she is the only person who knows details about his previous illegal business with the poster.

Raimundo Dávila Parra[edit]

Rafael Amaya stars as El Güero

Portrayed by Rafael Amaya, Raimundo Dávila Parra better known as El Güero is the Teresa's boyfriend. Although El Güero dies very early in the series, in fact, the series begins with his death, it is very prevalent in flashbacks and in Teresa's memory. El Güero was an integral part of the Sinaloa cartel. The leader of the cartel, Epifanio Vargas, was his godfather. However, when Epifanio learned that El Güero was in fact an infiltrated DEA agent working for Willy Rangel, he ordered that he be killed. His death was the cause which Teresa had to flee the country to start a new life in Spain. Although this one will she have more couple relationships after his death, she will never manage to love someone as he loved El Güero.

Santiago López Fisterra[edit]

Portrayed by Iván Sánchez, Santiago López Fisterra better known as El Gallego is Teresa's second boyfriend. He is a smuggler who brings drugs from Morocco to Spain through the Strait of Gibraltar. He has links to the Gallego union. Meet Teresa, and finally marry her. During a drug trafficking mission, he dies while being chased by the police when hit by a rock. In the same accident, Teresa is arrested by the police and sent to jail.

Patricia O'Farrell[edit]

Cristina Urgel stars as Patricia O'Farrell

Portrayed by Cristina Urgel, Patricia O'Farrell better known as La Teniente. She is a woman from the Irish-Spanish family, known for her wild drunkenness and bisexual exploits, she knows Teresa in jail. She is there because she had been the victim of a settling of accounts between Oleg Yasikov and her ex-boyfriend. When the two leave prison, they go in search of a hiding place where there is half a ton of cocaine. From that moment, they begin to traffic drugs together and her become partners with Oleg. She falls in love with Teresa. Later a relationship with Verónica Cortés begins, which has a Mexican accent and resembles Teresa. After Patricia learns that Verónica is an infiltrator of the DEA, she has a car accident where Veronica dies because of her, so she decides to commit suicide and dies in the arms of Teresa.

Oleg Yasikov[edit]

Portrayed by Alberto Jiménez, Oleg Yasikov is the Russian crime boss. He becomes Teresa's business partner after her release from jail, develops a brother/sister relationship with Teresa, and eventually harbors unrequited love for her. He is suspicious of Teo Aljarafe and orders him followed, leading to the discovery of Teo's betrayal.

Teo Aljarafe[edit]

Portrayed by Miguel de Miguel, Teo Aljarafe originally a friend and sometime lover of Patty O'Farrell, Teo replaces Eddy Álvarez as Teresa's primary lawyer, laundering money earned in the drug trade for which Eddy conspires with Teo's wife Eugenia to have him killed. Unbeknownst to Teresa, he is working as a police informant and betrays her by assisting Verónica with leaking information to the police and the DEA.
