Palm Bay International is an importer and producer of wines and spirits, established in Boca Raton, FL and headquartered in Port Washington, N.Y.

The company was founded by Martin C. Taub, who originally entered the wine and spirits business at the end of Prohibition, and his son David S. Taub in 1977 as Palm Bay Imports.[1] David Taub’s son Marc D. Taub became the President and CEO following his father David’s death in 2012. [2] Today, Palm Bay international is a leading importer of some 50 international estates and distilleries in 16 countries.  The company has distribution in all 50 states, plus Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and many Latin American countries. [3] The company's first wine brand was called Principato, and it was followed by Cavit Pinot Grigio which was advertised on television in the 1980's by celebrity Dick Cavett. Cavit is the number 1 Italian brand in America (Nielsen 52 weeks ending 07-22-17 XAOC+ Liquor).[4] Today, the Cavit Pinot Grigio is the top-selling imported Italian wine in the U.S.[5] In 2014, the company began producing wine in California and now has three labels.[6]

Wine Brands[edit]

Italy continues to make up a majority of Palm Bay International's overall business and they represent more than 30 Italian wine brands. Their newest brand Roscato, made its U.S. debut in 2011 in Olive Garden restaurants as a house wine, and expanded into off-premise a year later. In Chile, Santa Rita has 30 brands and is Palm Bay's top Chilean label. The Bodegas Faustino brand, Cava label Pere Ventura and Sherry producer Bodegas Williams & Humbert hail from Spain. Reisling producers Blue Fish and S.A. Prüm are from Germany and the José Maria de Fonseca portfolio is from Portugal.[7]

Philanthropy[edit]

The company has been involved with a number of charitable organizations including the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation,[8] the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation,[9] the Diabetes Research Foundation,[10] the American Cancer Society,[11] and the UJA Federation.[12] They established the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in Las Vegas,[13] as well as an education foundation for a N.Y.-based college.[14] Since 2007, Santa Rita and Palm Bay have also supported the "Cell Phone for Soldiers" campaign.[15][16][17]
