Breiðablik's two-handed throwing meeting (Beggja handa kastmót Breiðabliks in Icelandic) is an annual track and field meeting at Kópavogsvöllur in Kópavogur, Iceland. The first meeting was held in August of 2016.

History[edit]

The first two-handed meeting was held on 17th of August in 2016 with 24 competitors, 15 male and 9 female. The second edition was held on 18th of August in 2017, then with 34 participants, 24 male and 10 female. Among throwers who have competed at this meeting is Guðni Valur Guðnason, who participated in the discus throw for Iceland at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Events[edit]

There are only three events at this meet, the two-handed shot put, two-handed discus throw and two-handed javelin throw. If participants choose to compete in all three events they may elect to also take part in the two-handed throwing triathlon in which they collect points for their mark in each event based on the male and female decathlon scoring tables.

In all of the events each competitor throws the implement twice with his right hand and twice with his left hand. His final mark is the sum of his longest throw with the right hand and his longest throw with the left hand. Those four with the highest combined mark get two more throws, one on each hand, to try and improve either one or both of his one-handed marks.
