Names ending with: anchovies, badgers, bats, carps, cats, crabs, fishes, frogs, herrings, mullets, rats, razorback, silversides, snails, snakes, snappers, tetras, toads, treefrogs, wrasses

Separators[edit]

Entries which appear to break the convention of using a comma to separate common names (or have odd formatting along those lines).

  • Scincella monticola "Mountainous Dwarf Skink, Mountain Ground Skink (Walters, 2008)" — name field contains a comma inside parentheses. Trouble for any software which splits common names at commas.

Double space[edit]

No issues found.

Apostrophe[edit]

  • Mammillaria grahamii (Graham´s Nipple Cactus) — common name contains acute accent (´), possibly used as apostrophe (')

Question marks[edit]

Common name contains one or more question marks, generally due to Unicode characters which cannot be encoded to the IUCN's export (a non-Unicode CSV file). May indicate the English common name is not English. Also note Bristly Cave Crayfish which contains an odd character which looks like a Latin 'B'.
