R'lyehian or Cthuvian/Cthulhuvian is the fictional alien language constructed by H. P. Lovecraft for use in his stories. The language is intended to represent the tongue spoken by the unearthly being Cthulhu and his spawn.[1]
Form[edit]
The language is transliterated as gutturals.

The most famous example is ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn (said to mean "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming").

Two fonts are available online, titled Cthulhu Glyphs and Cthulhu Runes.[3]
The glyphs are also referred to as R'leyh Glyphs in the Call of Cthulhu supplement Shadows of Yog-Sothoth,[4] and are supposedly similar to Rongorongo glyphs.[4]: 40
