I am a graduate student at Stanford University in the Department of Chemistry. My advisers are Professors Edward I. Solomon, Keith O. Hodgson, and Britt Hedman (SSRL), and my project deals with the application of ligand K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations to molybdenum oxotransferases and related inorganic model complexes. Our goals are to understand the mechanism of oxo transfer, possible roles of the dithiolene-like ligands, and any differences in reactivities between Mo, Fe, and Cu active sites. My research is funded, in part, by the NSF.

I collect my sulfur K-edge data at beamline 6-2 of the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL), which is funded by the DOE and the NIH. DFT calculations are run on clusters at Stanford University and at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
