Carnatic music and Creative Commons[edit]
Currently, I am rather keen on increasing the number of Carnatic music files, both instrumental and vocal, on Wikimedia Commons because the articles on Indian Classical Music on Wikipedia are bereft of music. I believe that the addition of music files to the content will add to their value, and hopefully make classical music a little more accessible to the world, considering the footfall statistics that Commons has. Thus far, I have been uploading amateur recordings of arohanam and avarohanam on Commons, and locating archives of Carnatic music in the public domain with maintainers who believe just as strongly in the cause.
It is highly likely that many of you reading this page are in a better capacity to contribute personal/public domain recordings to Commons. You can tell me about it on my talk page or email me at aruna.evam@gmail.com.
