William Balfour Ker (1877-1918), was a Canadian-born American painter and illustrator, known for his images depicting labor issues. He was a frequent contributor to Life magazine. He was also known as Balfour Ker.

Married Mary Ellen Sigsbee November 26, 1898.[4]
Sigsbee sued for divorce March 10, 1910.[5]
A self-described socialist,[2] he was among several artists who whose works in The Masses influenced political and artistic developments.[6]

He married the artist Mary Ellen ("May") Sigsbee (1877–1960), daughter of Admiral Charles Dwight Sigsbee, on November 26, 1898.[7][8] They divorced in 1910.[8] Following their divorce, she married Anton Otto Fischer.[9] All three were artists and former students of Howard Pyle.[9] Balfor Ker and Sigsbee had a son, David (1906–1922), who was adopted by Fischer.[9]
Balfour Ker also had a daughter, Yosene Balfour Ker, with Josephine Phillips, a model. Yosene was herself a model for the artist John Sloan,[10] appearing in several of his paintings,[11] and her daughter was the actress Tuesday Weld (born Susan Ker Weld).[12][13]
