Imtiaz Bijon Ahmed is a award-winning Bangladeshi-American writer, director, producer. His work includes feature films Kingdom of Clay Subjects[1], Live from Dhaka[2],Afghan Short Roqaia[3] and Moving Bangladesh[4]. His works have been featured in many international film festivals including Venice, Rotterdam, Locarno, Seattle, Shanghai, Singapore, Cinequest, Busan, Melbourne, Freiburg, and Stockholm. He is developing several narrative feature films both in India and Bangladesh [5] including Paradise as a writer-director which was an official selection at Berlinale International Film Festival's co-production market.

Career[edit]

Bijon is an active documentary filmmaker along with his fiction works. Currently, he is in the production of a feature documentary, Paradise, documentary[6]. The film was part of the 44th Seattle International Film Festival work in progress forum. Bijon's previous documentary Beyond the Waves won the Colors of Asia competition at Tokyo Docs and was featured at NHK world's Inside Lens documentary series. Bijon is the first Bangladeshi Film Production/Directing MFA- graduate from the prestigious Film, Television, and Theatre Department of the University of California, Los Angeles. He has received awards for his filmmaking including the Motion Picture Association of America Awards, Edie and Lew Wasserman Film Production fellowship, Dorothy Arzner Memorial Awards, and The Nancy Richardson Fund

Kingdom of Clay Subjects[edit]

The making of this movie took almost five years. This self-funded 88-minute film of director Bijon Imtiaz and producer Arifur Rahman clinched the best film award in the Chicago South Asian Film Festival[7] 2016.[8] It has represented Bangladesh in over 20 international film festivals so far.

Moving Bangladesh[edit]

Produced by Arifur Rahman & Bijon Imtiaz, and made under Goopy Bagha banner, "Moving Bangladesh" is the only film from Bangladesh at this year's Film Bazaar Coproduction Market. The film has been in development for a year and the story will focus on 2013-2014's Dhaka.[9]

Live from Dhaka[edit]

Shamsur Rahman Alvy, Imtiaz Bijon Ahmed, Ehsanul Haque Babu and Mohammed Arifur Rahman produced this film for Khelna Chobi Productions. This is a significant stepping stone for Bangladeshi independent cinema. [10]
