The Battle[edit]
In 1810, Saud struck terror into the hearts of the Syrians when he attacked the area near Damascus with a force of six thousand men. The attack was rapid and sudden. Youssef Pasha's army was unable to stop the advance of Saud and his forces. Within three days, Saud plundered, plundered, and destroyed thirty-five villages in the Houran region, which is only two days' walk from Damascus. He also burned the wheat fields that he passed through; But he was not as harsh on the population as had happened in previous times; The man seized many animals from the peasants, and a Christian woman was captured. The Wahhabis took her with them as a slave, but she was released on orders from Saud a few days later. Saud could have easily taken control of the city, if he had known the fear of it’s people and fear that gripped the hearts of its people. When he’s army approach to the city, which made these residents move their possessions and valuables to the mountains of Lebanon; But his plan was undoubtedly to carry out repeated plundering raids until Yusuf Pasha, the governor of Damascus, was forced to surrender voluntarily. He returned to his country with a lot of spoil .
