Tony Newman (born 1947) is a British pop singer and guitarist.
Biography[edit]
Newman began learning the guitar as a teenager, taking inspiration from Eddie Cochran.[1] He formed "The Liberators", who in 1965 changed their name to Pinkerton's Assorted Colours. In February 1966, they peaked at number nine on the UK Singles Chart with "Mirror, Mirror".[2] In 1969, the band reformed as The Flying Machine.[3] In the United States, they had a hit with Smile a Little Smile for Me. The song went to number five in the US.[4] Newman is now in the current version of Pinkerton's Assorted Colours, that came back together in the 1980s.
