Purge[edit]

I think a Purge link would be helpful on the sandbox heading.

Please replace the <br> before the reset link with <br />. Added a clause to the No Libel line[edit]

I added a clause stating "In addition, please do not redirect the sandbox." There have been a few cases where users redirect the sandbox, and then all of the links to the sandbox stating "here is a place to edit freely" get used to unintentionally vandalize... or at the very least confuse the editor. Sandbox image[edit]

The logo in the main WP sandbox at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sandbox does not show a sandbox. It shows a sandpile. I would prefer something like the graphic here. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 01:32, 18 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The suggested pic in 75px
While I understand where you are going with this, the pic you suggest is too detailed to make any sense in the size that would be used in the heading. See for yourself. Nor do I think is it appropriate in representing WP users/editors since the persons shown in it are all white and the setting very European. The pic for the sandbox needs to be a neutral graphic representation of some sort to be readily recognized on all devices, including cell phones, the WP (and the sandbox) can be displayed on. w.carter-Talk 14:25, 18 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Several suggested changes[edit]

A few ideas:

  1. Draft:Sandbox seems a more logical link than User:Sandbox, since draft-space is more closely related to editing than userspace. Additionally, editing User:Sandbox displays a somewhat confusing notification about how the username already exists.
  2. I think that the default for Wiki Markup says "Edit source" now.
  3. Is there a reason why we link to both User:Sandbox and mw:VisualEditor:Test for users to test VisualEditor? mw:VisualEditor:Test may be superfluous.
  4. Perhaps the two alternative modes of editing (Markup/VisualEditor) could be made clearer though button-style formatting?
  5. Although it's the usual style, indenting the italicised bottom sentence looks a little odd.

Limitation[edit]

Although I totally agree with Prahlad balaji's edit, I have had to revert it because WP:sandbox can't be edited with visual editor (a ridiculous limitation for the main testing page). Trying to use VE on WP:sandbox just causes it to error, which would be confusing for new users. Ideally, I'd like to see Draft:sandbox be made the main sandbox, since it's far more versatile. Unfortunately the Wikipedia:Sandbox cannot be edited with VisualEditor, so clicking the button to use VisualEditor defaults to Draft:Sandbox in stead. One solution would be to scrap Wikipedia:Sandbox all together and redirect everyone to the more functional Draft:Sandbox. Save changes -> Publish changes[edit]

The wiki-wide change implemented by WMF on 11 December 2017, which saw the renaming of the blue "Save changes" button to "Publish changes" in both source and visual editors, means that many help pages, templates and some graphics are now out of date. VE link error[edit]

Within the source code for this template, there is the following section:

To edit this sandbox, you can either edit the source code ("Edit source" tab above) or use VisualEditor ("Edit" tab above). Then make your changes, and click the "Publish changes" button when finished. You can click "Show preview" to see a preview of what you are about to save, or "Show changes" to see what you have changed.

However, while the "edit source" (text based) link works perfectly, the "edit" (VisualEditor) link does not work properly. Rather than always linking to the VisualEditor for that page, it always links to "Draft:Sandbox|veaction=edit“. I believe this should instead be "FULLPAGENAME|vaction=edit}}", however I did not want to edit the template itself in case I was wrong.

  • note that the "FULLPAGENAM" should be surrounded by double curly braces

Таким образом мы видим, что именно начинающие бойцы с их не т.с. предвзятой точкой зрения принимают наибольшее участие в формировании игрового пространства, а это так так свойственно Бойцовскому Клубу - "за закрытой дверью". Напротив комнат Хорадримов. И растягивают городскую пыль. Забор. Пыль. Хорадримов. - так начинается история городов, ведь их, такого класса, всего 13. Таким образом места их обитания пронзительно одинаковые. В Демонс в отличие от Дрим или от Кэпитал параметр характеристики плавающий 4- -8-17. Такую сложную витиеватую дорогу прорисовывает на Девил. Забытое Время Выходов и когда торговые пути и игровые выходы пересекаются происходит самое интересное.

Add Documentation (sort of) header[edit]

I am autoconfirmed to clear up the confusion, but don't you think that people editing the sandbox can delete the top header of the sandbox? That's a problem. I think we should do something like the Documentation template for templates to protect that. I can do it but I need to ask about your opinion.
