Game Name[edit]

I agree. It is not the Fiesta Bowl presented by Tostitos, but the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. All but the Rose Bowl are the same way. Bcspro (talk) 17:21, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Terrific suggestion. It appears that you (Bcspro) already made the appropriate edit. I will go back in and add an optional subheading to the heading in case people would like to add a "presented by" (or anything else for that matter) as a subheading. I was actually kind of bummed because it was taking up the space for the subheading (and 2 subheadings is too much I felt) so thanks for the excellent suggestion, guys. Ok, I made 2 changes. First, on the change that was made, it was slightly messing up if there was no sponsor present, so I added a simple if/then statement to display it slightly differently if there was a sponsor filled in or not. Second, I added a parameter called "Optional Subheader" which will display below the header if filled in. Hopefully this is everything for now. I encourage more suggestions if anyone has any. Uniform parameter[edit]

Would it be possible to put an optional uniform parameter into the template, so an image showing the teams' uniforms (like done for a lot of teams' individual pages) could be added? I've even started doing some teams' bowl uniforms and I think it'd be a valuable addition to the pages. Obviously, it'd be incredibly difficult to fill in all of the bowls, so the parameter should be optional. --Kevin W. 01:53, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

NAIA Use?[edit]

We're using this template at 2011 NAIA Football National Championship, and unfortunately the "Coaches Poll" link goes to Coaches' Poll (NCAA) and it should go to NAIA Coaches' Poll. Can we make this a parameter or otherwise find a work-around, rather than having to make a new template for NAIA games?--Paul McDonald (talk) 03:41, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox parameters: Start Time and Official Webpage[edit]

Game name field pointing to disambig[edit]

Hi. Pages using this template points to disambig as in the case of 2009 United Bowl. The Game Name field is not wikilinked but shows up as a link to disambig page United Bowl. The documentation states that this parameter should not be wikilinked. So, is there a way to fix this? (to either remove the resulting link or point it to the correct article). This parameter really needs to be documented. I've been disambiguating Camellia Bowl (e.g. on 2015 Camellia Bowl) and this is at least the second time I've run into this linking issue and had to go digging for the solution.
Also, is there a way to specify no link? I didn't see a good way to handle this on Camellia Bowl (1948), so I used a self-referential link for the time being. Nick Number (talk) 14:35, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Nick Number, this template is really for games which are part of a series with a parent article. I fixed your example by using {{Infobox college football game}} instead. this template is just a frontend for that template, and {{Infobox college football game}} is more flexible. Extend YYYY / NCAA level logic[edit]

However around 1978, we seem to lose FBS/FCS context. See here where links start to point to "YYYY college football season":

Here is a clean YYYY+FBS/FCS/IA/IAA/etc mapping Template:NCAA football season navbox. If you can do this, it would help take some pressure off of the YYYY DAB pages.[1]

Amazing, I spot-checked the "top level" of NCAA (Pre-divisional/University/I/I-A/FBS) via Template:Rose Bowl navbox and everything looked great!
Then I checked the "second level" of NCAA (Pre-divisional/College/I/I-AA/FCS) and there might be issues. At 1964 Tangerine Bowl (1964 UMass Redmen football team vs 1964 UMass Redmen football team), all three articles point to this game being "College" (1964 NCAA College Division football season). However, the Season 1964 link on 1964 Tangerine Bowl points to "University" (1964 NCAA University Division football season) rather than 1964 NCAA College Division football season.
