- Is there a discussion about this somewhere? By "following the migration", do you mean that the edit should happen after the migration is complete, or that it has already happened? – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:22, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Jonesey95: The local discussion can be found at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard § IRC security, Oversight notice, while the global one is at Meta:Wikimedia Forum § Freenode (IRC), with a bit more information at Meta:IRC/Migrating to Libera Chat. I believe the migration has already occurred, with most of the Wikipedia's Freenode channels saying to go to Libera. Sdrqaz (talk) 10:16, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
Not done for now: looks like it is still in the decision-making stage and that many people are still on Freenode. This template redirect is transcluded over 10,000 times, so changing it seems like it is likely to break many things. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:28, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

- That's the same conversation I just linked to. There is significant discussion about whether Libera is the right choice. In any event, it looks like Primefac has already implemented a different version of this change, which is fine with me as long as it works for the 10,000 pages that transclude this template. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:44, 23 May 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah, the change I implemented allows for backwards compatibility if freenode really is the server needed for the link. Saves having a bot subst 10k pages unnecessarily (and also allows for future changes if for some horrible reason we have to switch things again). Primefac (talk) 02:00, 23 May 2021 (UTC)
