Link to specific paragraph

I want to include functionality in this template so that the link can go to specific paragraph in a judgment, but can't get this to work properly. Please help!

The way to link to a specific paragraph in a judgment is to add #[paragragh number] after the link. In trying to do this within the template, Wikipedia appears to be recognising the # symbol as an indication to start a new numbered list. Why is this? How can it be avoided? I've already tried replacing the # with an ASCII %23, but that doesn't seem to work.

I've done a dirty fix where the main link doesn't include the "l" of the "html", which doesn't stop the link working. Then, when there's a paragraph being linked to, the extra bit added to the link is l#[paragraph number]. Although this works, it's not very pleasant! Any other suggestions? Tool for doing it automatically

I wonder if it is possible to create some sort of (Javascript?) tool, to create the necessary citation script from a URL? ElectricLemon (talk) 19:06, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
