Comments for consideration[edit]

Thank you to 117Avenue for creating a very useful template. Very neat! I look forward to using it and have some comments for consideration.

  • Is Alberta Municipal Affairs (AMA) technically an author or a publisher. I see AMA as the latter as it is not a person, it is an entity.
  • Can a parameter be established to convert the "date" and "accessdate" parameters to YYYY-MM-DD format when used in articles where this date format is the original or dominant format used in its references?
  • If I want to use the template tomorrow (June 19, 2011), how do I override the default date (June 17, 2011)?

Does author or publisher really matter? I know their website publishes the content, but the author parameter offers an authorlink. I thought of date format when I created the template, but if you look at the history, you would see I tried to make it work, and failed. What I concluded was that the syntax can't take a parameter within the ref tags, there may be more testing in the future. If you do reaccess the information, update Template:Alberta Municipal Officials Search/accessdate with the date you access it, and update Template:Alberta Municipal Officials Search/date with the date on the publication, which should be the Friday on or before you accessed it. I thought I would be the only one updating this, since I have already been updating this sort of information every four weeks. 117Avenue (talk) 05:47, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Replacing "|author=Alberta Municipal Affairs|authorlink=Alberta Municipal Affairs" with "|publisher=[[Alberta Municipal Affairs]]" achieves the wikilink that the authorlink parameter enables but with one less parameter.
Alas I didn't look through the history when I should have. Just plain lazy on my part.
Thanks for the instructions. I'm going to apply the template at Fox Creek, Alberta with an updated "accessdate". Hwy43 (talk) 05:19, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'll just remove the ref tags from the template. This may cause some weird looking articles during transition. 117Avenue (talk) 04:02, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
