{{Rugby union and rugby sevens at the Olympics}} is a sub-template of {{Olympic events sidebar}}, a series of navigational sidebars for articles on Olympic disciplines, designed to replace the aged Summer Olympics by year and Winter Olympics by year navigational sidebar series. It is devoted specifically to the Olympic disciplines of rugby union and rugby sevens, and features interchangeable lists of rugby union and sevens events at various Olympic games, from 1900 to 2020. It is composed of a single blank parameter, 1, designed to accept year inputs. The sidebar's interchangeable lists are powered by the {{#switch}} parser function, through the 1 parameter.

This template is designed as a merger and replacement for two predecessor navigational sidebar templates, all of which should ideally redirect to {{Rugby union and rugby sevens at the Olympics}}. They are as follows:
