Tipu Sultan (journalist)[edit]

  • ... that attackers broke the legs and hands of journalist Tipu Sultan after he implicated a Bangladeshi MP in an arson attack on a girls' school?

Created/expanded by Khazar (talk). Self nom at 15:38, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Date, length and quality check out. The "after" in the proposed hook raises concerns about WP:OR and requires a solid reference blaming Hazari for the assault (other than the journalist's own account). Hazari is a living person and has as such special protection here on WP. However, the Amnesty International source uses exactly the same word, "after", in the same context (without raising copyvio concerns). Several other sources also make the mentioned accusation. I thus believe that the hook is properly referenced in the article. --Pgallert (talk) 21:58, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

I am concerned that some of the phrasing and structure used by this article might be too close to that of its sources, particularly this source. Nikkimaria (talk) 04:01, 15 February 2012 (UTC)

Hmm. I admit I only checked the major sources. I attempted to reword the offending sentence but maybe Khazar can work over the rest of the article again. As this BLP is essentially based on one event I have difficulties imagining much variety on the article's general structure. --Pgallert (talk) 06:55, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Just saw that Khazar won't contribute anymore. Will try to check the article myself again and then post here. --Pgallert (talk) 07:00, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
  • I now checked all the other sources. Although I reworded the article extensively, there were only a handful of phrases that might have raised eyebrows. However, all sources essentially retell the same sad story and plagiarise much more than now the article under submission. As such there might still be concerns of "structural plagiarism", if such an entity exists, but this is the call of the reviewing volunteer. --Pgallert (talk) 20:08, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
thank you for the rescue, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:18, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
