Swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi[edit]

Modi sworn in as the Prime Minister

  • Comment: In ITN noms at present, will withdraw this nom if it passes ITN

Created by Dharmadhyaksha (talk), Rsrikanth05 (talk), Shyamsunder (talk), Gfosankar (talk), Vishal Manve (talk). Nominated by Matty.007 (talk) at 15:55, 26 May 2014 (UTC).

What "first of its kind" is this? The first swearing in of a PM anywhere? The first swearing-in of an Indian PM? If the latter, it looks as if the previous PM was in place since 2004, when Youtube didn't even exist, so this would be a rather hollow "first" at first sight. If the former, a first worldwide, I would prefer a source that states this more clearly. Fram (talk) 16:04, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
I nommed due to comments at ITN, and this is simply a placeholder until ITN is resolved. I can't find anything explicitly stating it was the first swearing in on Youtube, but something may come up in papers tomorrow. Thanks, Matty.007 16:11, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks User:Matty.007 for the nom. Will get back to suggesting better hook than this one if the ITN fails. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 17:17, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
ALT1 ... that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony (pictured) was the first of its kind to have invited all SAARC-country heads?
  • Full review for ALT1. Article created 25 May; new enough (for 25 May), and long enough. Hook image and regular thumbnail images in article are free. The flag icons are free, and are used in a respectful manner. No disambig links found. All external links work OK. Citations #11 and #42 flagged as "suspicious; Heuristics resolved as likely dead" but they work OK and look OK. ALT1 is short enough at 145 characters, and checks out online with citation #11. The text is written in an objective, careful and neutral manner, and that same neutrality includes reportage of controversy about attendances of delegates from certain countries. I have checked external links for citations 1-12; no sources of copyvio or close paraphrasing found. (Note: I have not checked citations 13-50 for sources of copyvio). Issues: (1) The following passage is not cited: "Pakistani journalists and politicians however have welcomed the decision of their Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to visit India and attend the ceremony swearing Narendra Modi in as the Prime Minister of India." (2) QPQ needed. Summary: If issues 1-2 can be resolved, then this nom should be OK. --Storye book (talk) 15:12, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks User:Storye book for such a detailed review. About point 1; i have removed the sentence and instead added "Pakistani journalists and politicians however had mixed views on Sharif accepting the invite." which was the real case. The supporting reference gives plenty quotes of Pakistani eminent people, some welcoming the decision, some saying its-to-early-to-meet, while some being doubtful for Modi's staunch Hindutva image. In short, there were "mixed views". About point 2; i actually was being lazy and thought that i need not do QPQ as the nominator is not the contributor. But i will get to it now. I might actually also have some unused QPQ somewhere. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 16:24, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you, Dharmadhyaksha, for adding the citation. You are right, you don't need to do a QPQ because it's not a self-nom - my mistake, and my apologies. All issues resolved. Good to go.--Storye book (talk) 16:33, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the review Storye book, and for fixing the issues Dharmadhyaksha. Best, Matty.007 17:38, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
