• I liked the ALT2, and was about to select this for a prep area, but since there wasn't an inline cite for the 1947 date, I decided to click on the OCLC entry in the infobox just to be safe, and the record that comes up from that gives a date of 1946, as does a separate search at Cornell University, which has it in their collection. The date, whatever it is, needs an inline cite, and ALT2 may need a one-digit revision. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:58, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

• Jassin (to whom the year is sourced) gives "... Surabaya, yang sudah lebih dulu diterbitkan sebagai buku oleh Merdeka Press, 1947." ("... Surabaya, that was previously published as a book by Merdeka Press, 1947.") The wording does not disallow the possibility of it being published as a short story in 1946, but both English-language sources you indicated give it as being published by Merdeka Press. • Um. I hate it when sources disagree. Might there be another Indonesian source that reinforces the 1947? I notice that the Phillips gives a range of dates for the material in the book with 1947 the earliest, and Surabaya is one of the ones translated in that. (Incidentally, there's an odd typo in the quote you take from the book: the second "and", while exactly what's in the book, should clearly be "an"; it either needs a {{sic}}, or for you to start paraphrasing a little earlier. (Also, I'd say "many" rather than "several", since "several" is a smallish number, and Phillips specifically says "large number".) There's also the fact that the book covers events through May 1946. The book would have had to gone through a very quick editorial and publication cycle to appear the same year, but it's not impossible by any means. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:22, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
