... that Sidney Howe Short produced the first electric motor without gears that operated a streetcar directly from its built-in armature?

Source is ref #7 = Hammond "Men and Volts"

...he was to produce the first motor that operated without gears of any sort, having its armature direct-connected to the car axle.

Article is long enough and new enough; no sourcing, copyright, or content issues were found. Hook has good source and meets length and format criterion. QPQ was done. I added info box and did minor format clean-up. Now, good to go.--Orygun (talk) 04:59, 11 March 2017 (UTC)
