  • ... that the Royal Game of Ur is a board game that was first played in ancient Mesopotamia over 4,500 years ago? Source: "The Royal Game of Ur, also known as the Game of Twenty Squares, is a two-player strategy race board game that was first played in ancient Mesopotamia during the early third millennium BC."
    • ALT1:... that some scholars believe the Royal Game of Ur, first played in ancient Mesopotamia, may have later evolved into backgammon? Source: "It is unclear what led to the Game of Ur's eventual decline during late antiquity.[8] One theory holds that it evolved into backgammon;[8] whereas another holds that early forms of backgammon eclipsed the Game of Ur in popularity, causing players to eventually forget about the older game.[8][2]"

Conclusion: Original hook pending QPQ
  • Hi, I'm your reviewer. This article was recently promoted to GA status so it is new enough, long enough and with more than adequate inline citations. Regarding the hook, I believe the original hook is better since it reads much better than ALT1. Both hooks are appropriately formatted and sourced. However, Wikipedia:QPQ is pending so I can only approve it once this is resolved. Droodkin (talk) 13:48, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
@Droodkin: I am fine with either hook. If you prefer ALT0, I am willing to go along with that. I will try to review another nomination within the next few days. --Katolophyromai (talk) 15:06, 10 June 2018 (UTC)
@Droodkin: I have now begun reviewing Template:Did you know nominations/Imperial German plans for the invasion of the United Kingdom, so I believe that fulfills QPQ. --Katolophyromai (talk) 15:41, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
@Droodkin: The review for Template:Did you know nominations/Imperial German plans for the invasion of the United Kingdom is now complete. QPQ is now fulfilled. --Katolophyromai (talk) 16:44, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
All seems in order (image has appropriate CC status), the first hook is good to go. Droodkin (talk) 17:10, 13 June 2018 (UTC)
