No Quiero Saber[edit]

Created/expanded by Jonatalk to me 01:17, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

  • The article length is good, being almost 3,000 characters for the time being. The hook is good, but maybe an alternative could be: ... that "No Quiero Saber" was named by The Deseret News as being one of Selena's "best works"? The current statement seems to generalize that the song was really one of Selena's best works. Arius1998 (talk) 02:22, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
  • It is more to the point that since this was an older article that comes under the 5x expansion rule, it was, in fact, expanded at least five times from its pre-September 9 size. (All articles have to be at least 1500 prose characters, but articles that are not new within the five days prior to submission must also clear this higher bar as well.) I do have a problem with the hook in that The Deseret News actually says that the album Ones contains 20 of Selena's best songs (mentioning "No Quiero Saber" by name as one of the 20). 20 is a lot of bests. This isn't very hooky, being of the form "did you know X is Y", which is not recommended. I'd try to find something else that distinguishes it. Note that the "biggest hit" in the intro section has to be either modified or echoed in the article body: it isn't supported by any source, and any quotes in the intro must be sourced. (Any quotes anywhere should be, even if in the intro.) Is this a variant of the "best works" quote? A quote like that should actually be attributed to a specific reviewer at the publication (along with the publication name), and when echoed in a hook, attributed to "a reviewer" or "a critic". I don't know whether you want to bring in the fact that this was a posthumous single and/or that it won Tejano Crossover Song of the Year, or maybe that it was on the Olympics Latin album. Just some thoughts. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:09, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Well there is nothing else to add in the article so if it cannot pass due to it being under the 5x expansion rule, then this must be a quick dyk no. Thanks for the reviews and best, Jonatalk to me 18:42, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Actually, it does pass 5x. (I was pointing this out to the reviewer, who was basing this on the 1500 minimum, but expanded articles also need to be 5x, which wasn't part of the review and should have been.) My problem was with the hook. Can you do anything with it? Try to find something else to distinguish the song aside from being included on a "best of" album, which is effectively what "Ones" seems to be. I did make a couple of suggestions, but as you know the song far better than I, there may be something else that works even better. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:12, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
  • The hook is not supported by the reference citation, which says "an Olympic tribute album" and not "official". I've added "Selena's" to the hook—I think her name should be in any hook—but I think you need another source for it: Billboard magazine, March 16, 1996 issue, page 41 should have what you need. Or you may prefer this press release. Adding the title of the album, Voces Unidas, would probably drag down the hook, but it should be in the article itself. So what would you prefer? Best, Jonatalk to me 04:09, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
The ALT1 hook is interesting; it just needs to be supported by an inline source that confirms the information. Please update the article with one or both sources after the sentence that says this was the official Latin album (check them out and use your best judgment as to what works best; if the one currently there is superfluous, then it can be removed), and add the name of the album there, so it's covered by the citation, though leave the name out of ALT1. It shouldn't take you long, and we can finally get this properly approved. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:49, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

  • ALT1 hook fact now supported by inline citation. As noted earlier, article is long enough and properly expanded within the necessary time frame. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:44, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
