Mining industry of Senegal[edit]

Moved to mainspace by Rosiestep (talk), Nvvchar (talk), and Dr. Blofeld (talk). Nominated by Rosiestep (talk) at 17:29, 2 July 2015 (UTC).

  • -Senegal - nominated 1 day after created, length of over 3500 characters is adequate, reference citations check, hook source verified and is interesting, no copyvio or plagiarism, 1 Flickr picture in article properly licensed plus 1 Commons image licensed correctly, but none used in DYK nomination. QPQ of Norma (constellation) done.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 20:10, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
  • The reference cited for "Illegal mining is prevalent in the country" [1] doesn't say that; it says that there has been an impact in some coastal areas because of the illegal extraction of sand for building. Belle (talk) 01:14, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

As the earlier hook is not correctly worded I suggest the following hook

  • Alt1 ... that the Senegalese government has planned to attract foreign investors and use mining to facilitate national economic growth by some 7%?

The following Hook suggestions of Belle could also be considered

New reviewer needed to check all three ALT hooks. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:23, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

Demba Diawara
Demba Diawara

<>:@Belle: Here is enough to make one of the noms. As you see I've written an article around one of the villages mentioned in the Senegal mining article (and it has more than one claim to notability). There should be enough to write a stub about Demba Diawara. The village article needs polishing but I'm off out. Victuallers (talk) 12:26, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

I restored the alt above that got lost in the recent re-organisation of these hooks. If we want this alt then we need to add the new article to the DYKmake templates etc Victuallers (talk) 12:39, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
Fixed the alt4 hook to use the correct redirect and capitalization, and a full opening ellipsis. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:51, 22 August 2015 (UTC) thx Victuallers (talk) 15:45, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
Struck Alt4 Sadly Alt4 relies on Google Maps who says there is only one Diabougou in Senegal, there there is more than one and the FGC and the mining happened in different places. So the mining hook will have to be Alt1 al2 or alt3 Victuallers (talk) 20:00, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
  • With Alt4 out of the running, new reviewer still needed to check the first three ALT hooks. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:04, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
    • Alt1 has an inline citation. Alt 2 does, too, but the citation is a book, so will take on good faith. Alt3 isn't stated concisely in the article within one sentence, but does have a citation that works if reworded. SojoQ (talk) 23:53, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
Moving nomination to Template:Did you know nominations/Diabougou (Senegal) for a double nom, with nominator's approval. Yoninah (talk) 10:29, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
