Mikołaj Zyblikiewicz[edit]

Mikołaj Zyblikiewicz by Jan Matejko

Created/expanded by Poeticbent (talk). Self nom at 17:09, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

I have concerns re POV, many stong claims both pro the subject and anti other european "nations". The majority of sources are in polish, and I would normally AGF, but not when faced with such an obvously one sided view point. Its a red flag, and I'm not able to weight the validity the sources (which are entirely web based, another red flag), so caucious. Willing to be corrected. Also the "hook" is dull enough to induce coma. Ceoil (talk) 06:33, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the edits, Ceoil. I appreciate you taking the time to read my nomination. Please note that there's nothing in this article about "other European nations" at all, only about the imperial Austria-Hungary co-responsible for the partitions of Poland (which is a historical fact). I replaced the "Austrian" with "the Imperial" to avoid any further misunderstanding of this sort. Please explain why the official website of the magistrate of Krakow (ref #1 and #3) or the Polish Parliament website (ref #6) is a 'red flag' in your opinion. There's also an English book among the references linked to Google books preview (ref #7). It says that Zyblikiewicz "proposed a broad plan for an economic revival of Galicia" because of need for such a revival. I wonder. Would you be interested in suggesting your own hook perhaps? There's always room for improvement of course. Thanks again, Poeticbent talk 15:32, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Partial review I did some minor clean up. Well put together article. I think that it is written from a WP:NPOV. BTW, I am not sure that the wikilink I put in for Galicia was correct, and it probably should be disambiguated. Given the substantial history of the article's author, I think we should WP:AGF as to the off line sources. I do not see anything (from my perspective) that warrants an adverse inference. The hook seems to be noncontroversial, and does not harken to the nationalistic sentiment to which the Mayor was presumably entwined. I do think that there should be in line references (sfn) to the books that are listed as "sources", and that seems to be completely absent. Otherwise, the article is new enough, and long enough. 7&6=thirteen () 20:56, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks a million, 7&6=thirteen. Your edits make the article stronger. I will reformat the books using Template:Sfn like you suggested. Poeticbent talk 23:02, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
I am still working off the 30-n-1 QPQ,and this is one of them. 7&6=thirteen () 23:20, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
It would be good for the article to have the phonetic IPA pronunciation of his name. For non-Polish speakers, his name could be daunting. You might contact User:Voceditenore for the information. If he doesn't have it, I'm sure he will know someone who does. 7&6=thirteen () 23:45, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
Done. I just added the pronounciation using Template:IPA-pl. Thanks, Poeticbent talk 18:05, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
I do agree that the hook is bland, and may induce a coma in the readers. If anybody has a better hook, it would be appreciated. His involvement with Polonic symbols, e.g., the Polish Pantheon and the Polish 'palace' might be fertile ground. However, these are more controversial, as Cracow was itself hotly disputed ground. 7&6=thirteen () 01:27, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
  • There is a problem which I can't cure with this citation: Ben-Joseph 2000, review. For whatever reason, it won't link to the work. 7&6=thirteen () 16:01, 26 November 2012 (UTC)  Done
  • The problem with the citation noted above is cured. If the hook is lame, that remains. However, with that exception, this is good to go. 7&6=thirteen () 16:59, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

Please take a look at my ALT1 below. Poeticbent talk 03:12, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

ALT1 is better. Unfortunately, ignorant non-Polish readers (and I use the phrase in a non-pejorative sense) may not get the overwhelming import of Wawel castle, traditional seat of the crown, future home of the President of Poland, and now a National Museum. Of course, they can look at the article. And we have to deal with the 200 character limit, so maybe this will have to do. 7&6=thirteen () 12:39, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
[[File:|18px|link=]] During the partitions of Poland, the complex of Wawel was converted into an army base by the Austrian military with little concern for its history. The actual castle was falling into disrepair. However, we can say only a few words about Wawel within the hook, beyond what is available at our own internal link. Please take a look at my ALT2 below. If it's OK with you, I'd like to ask the promoter to please acknowledge the contributions made to the development of this entry by the reviewer after the nomination. Please give DYKmake credits to User:7&6=thirteen as well. Thanks, Poeticbent talk 18:06, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. Nicely done! If it creates a conflict, then I decline. If no conflict is involved, then I am pleased to accept, if it is OK with the promoter. 7&6=thirteen () 18:13, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
"ignorant non-Polish readers". Have fun boys at this mutual appreciation soc, and dishing out dyk's to each other at will. Sigh. Ceoil (talk) 02:15, 30 November 2012 (UTC)
