I almost approved this nomination, but I think that the hook needs a slight adjustment. She didn't really seek to be treated as a political prisoner, but to be classed as a political prisoner. The former sounds as if the actual treatment in prison was the issue, while the latter indicates that the judicial/political status was the issue. I see no other problems though, length and verification are OK. Fram (talk) 11:13, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- I do not have a problem with the proposed word change (after checking a thesaurus, "designated" may also work), but do not have access to the article source to determine which word most accurately describes the situation. A note has been sent to the article's author asking for an opinion as to the best wording for the hook. --Allen3 talk 12:05, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- 'classed' sounds more correct to me, good point Fram. Would '... that Irish suffragist Margaret Cousins ...' help to make a more concrete hook? I'd vaguely like a greater diversity of sources for the article.Dsp13 (talk) 13:14, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- I thought about adding "Irish" as well, but considering the difficulties in pleasing everyone / getting it right when adding these nationalities (was she British? Irish? Both?) I preferred to leave that one well alone. As for the sources, while more is usually better, I thing that 5 different independent sources is sufficient for this kind of DYK. But additional ones like this one, this one and this one only seem to confirm what is already there, although e.g. this one shows another aspect of her life. Fram (talk) 13:51, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- It seems pretty clear to me she'd have called herself Irish not British. My worry about sources was that I'd expanded it principally from Jayawardena, and it would have been nice to have another source which covered a stretch so that I could remove one of the refs to that. for ALT1; AGF on sources since I too cannot see the cited source for the hook. I suggest adding a little explanation in the article also; I take it their demand was to be treated as political prisoners and thus to be released as such?
