  • This article is new enough and long enough. The hook facts are cited inline and the image is in the public domain. The article is neutral, though the prose is a bit flowery in places, and I detected no policy issues. QPQ has been done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 13:08, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
  • Neither hook is ready for the main page IMO. The first hook is too repetitive and the second, too name-dropping about everyone but the subject. Yoninah (talk) 21:26, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

  • @Elisa.rolle: Thank you. I do think the hook needs more work. We try not to promote the same "woman does this first" hook at DYK. I started to review the article for promotion, and toned down some POV. I can't make sense out of this passage:
  • Hinman was a graduate of the Iowa Wesleyan University, Mount Pleasant, B. S., M. S 1876–-77, and early in life she showed a tendency toward literary pursuits. She entered Iowa Wesleyan in 1870, M.S. in 1875. Could you write that more straightforwardly? Does it mean:
  • Early in life Hinman showed a tendency toward literary pursuits. She obtained her B.S. degree (in what?) from Iowa Wesleyan University in ??? and her M.S. in 1875.

  • Yoninah: the second source for Iowa Wesleyan University was specific from the university, therefore I removed the first part that was generic from the bio-sketch book by Willard. I added the reference to Find A Grave I know is not the best but in some case (lack of other source) is accepted.Elisa.rolle (talk) 22:16, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

  • @Elisa.rolle: Thanks. But a sketch book sounds like an artist's book. Could we identify her this way:
  • ALT2a: ... that Ida Hinman, author of a popular Washington, D.C. guidebook, died alone in poverty and her body was identified through a membership pin of the Daughters of the American Revolution?

  • @Yoninah: good for me, as you said, people will be hooked by the "Body to be identified" factor and will learn the other details. BTW she was really side-by-side with the political elite of the 1890s, the fact she died a poor is such a sad thing. Elisa.rolle (talk) 22:56, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
