Glarentza[edit]
- ... that Glarentza was the most important town and the main port of the Principality of Achaea in Frankish Greece?
- ALT1:... that Glarentza, the most important town of the Frankish Principality of Achaea, was ceded to Constantine Palaiologos, who would become the last Byzantine Emperor, in 1428, as part of a dowry?

Just promoted to GA, is long enough and is certainly within policy. Format is good (either version) and interesting enough. QPQ ok also. Would have ticked, but I can't find reference to "largest town" anywhere in the article, nor a source for the same. Oncenawhile (talk) 16:44, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
- Nice catch, this was an oversight on my part. Glarentza was among the largest towns, but the data is imprecise so there can be no exact ranking. Making some changes. Constantine ✍ 17:21, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Constantine, sorry to be difficult but how can it be the "most important" when it wasn't ever the capital city. How about going with your ALT1, but replacing "most important town" with "main port"?
- As an aside, do your sources explain what happened to the economy of the city when the capital moved to Mystras? I think that would be an interesting point to add. Oncenawhile (talk) 19:56, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

- No problem about "being difficult", you just do your job and raise valid points. Well, as I hope the article makes clear, Glarentza was by far the most important urban centre in the principality, as its main port, site of the mint, one of the largest towns and de facto co-capital, especially since Andravida never amounted to much other than being the princely residence. This is much like Amsterdam being the most important city in the Netherlands, despite the capital being at Den Haag. The capital was not moved to Mystras, BTW, after the Byzantine conquest: the Morea was divided between one brother in Mystras and the other in Glarentza, which thus became co-capital of the Morea. As for your last suggestion, it is a good idea, done. If you have any suggestions for another hook, I'll be happy to hear them. I just wanted to emphasize Glarentza's unique standing in Achaea.
