... that after Fred G. Hughes (pictured), President of the Council for the 19th Arizona Territorial Legislature, embezzled funds allocated by the session, he was killed by a lightning strike?

Comment: Fact that the two events occurred more than a decade apart intentionally left out to give the hook a feeling of "divine justice".

Both articles are new enough and long enough. Hughes seems to have been a colourful character. The image is in the public domain and the hook is sourced from a book and accepted in good faith.
