Edward Upcott[edit]

Created/expanded by Timtrent (talk). Self nom at 08:44, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

  • Comment: the Asthma is referenced in citations numbered currently 1 and 4. 1 is a primary source, the eponymous subject's own biography, the other is an interview with the subject by TV Choice magazine. The primary source is appropriate in the article since it is backed by a WP:RS source for this and all other deployments. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 16:31, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
  • Comment: two further citations for asthma have been sourced. The current version now shows references numbers 1, 4, 19, 20 to refer to the ailment and its control in the context of the subject's sporting prowess. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 08:54, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Date and hook is fine, however the page's prose is too short. The minimum is 1500 characters. Unfortunately it's out of the 5 day period for new articles so I'm afraid that now it will require a 5x expansion. However, since you haven't been reviewed within that time, if you like I'll check on Wikipedia talk:Did you know if WP:IAR can be used but it will need to be over 1500 characters of prose. • Ouch. It's only 140 or so characters short. Regardless of the outcome of the DYK element I'll expand it a smidgen within the next short while. The thing I like very much about this is that since, anecdotally at least, asthma is on the increase, a factet like this gives great encouragement to kids with asthma. If it could take a mini DYK main page position, however briefly, that woudl serve a very practical purpose. And yes, I know Wikipedia is not a self help tool :) A fivefold expansion is unlikely ever to be possible on this article. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 11:46, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
  • I have expanded it to circa 1,600 characters. I had previously thought that it was long enough because one considered 100% f the words, including those quoted in the citations. I was obviously not correct on that one. Put that down to my inexperience in matters DYK. The writing is tight and precise, which is, I think, a virtue, but minor clarifications were in order. As such the article is improved, again regardless of the outcome of the DYK selection. I suspect, but do not know, that this is something that may be classed as meeting the needs of the review process, thus may not even require an IAR approach, though I am grateful for your considering that as well :) Fiddle Faddle (talk) 11:59, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
  • I'll just check this as I've not had to deal with this issue of the article needing expansion and the review being out of time before. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 12:27, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
