Insufficient progress toward resolving outstanding issues

David Ong[edit]

  • ... that Singaporean politician David Ong was initially in the computer trade, followed by the credit card industry?

Created by Bonkers The Clown (talk). Self nominated at 12:40, 8 November 2013 (UTC).

  • The article and source provided do not mention credit cards, so we shouldn't say that in the hook. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 16:47, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
  • New ✓. Length ✓. Neutral ✓. Issues:
  • Sourcing: One of the main references is currently inaccessible [1]. Also, may want to add more third party, non-affiliated sources.
  • Content: Does not include when Ong entered parliament. Seems like an important fact.
  • Hook: Tone is off. Also, not particularly interesting. Plot Spoiler (talk) 17:38, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
  • Strange... Now I can't access the GE.pap webpage although I could just three days ago!!! An overly suspicious me suspects that this has something to do with the recent hacking, or it could just be a server being down temporarily due to internal errors. Nevertheless you can AGF as I did manage to view the source when writing this article. Also, the parliament source (unless I need a pair of spectacles) does not state when he entered parliament. Changed hook. ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble ☯ 11:46, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
  • I think this needs a final review: the hook has been changed since the above, but no changes to the article content have been made (just categories and a new infobox). This means that the while the hook tone has definitely improved, the sourcing issues remain and the basic fact of when Ong entered parliament is not in the article either. As Bonkers is blocked for at least three months, I think the article has to be assumed to be as finished as it's likely to get, and a final decision should be made on that basis. Of the three refs given, one is still unavailable, another looks to just be a CV, the third is just a mundane political quote; the hook is (IMO) still boring and not significant - basically just "an MP worked in these (also boring) industries"; although it is 1795 characters in length, it still feels like little more than a CV-type stub (and is still assessed as a stub), which is missing any detail. I suggest this nomination is rejected. SagaciousPhil - Chat 11:30, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Per review by SagaciousPhil, this nomination does not meet DYK standards for completeness and hook sourcing. Closing as unsuccessful. BlueMoonset (talk) 19:46, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
