Comet Ping Pong[edit]

Comet Ping Pong
Comet Ping Pong
  • ... that Comet Ping Pong's pizzas were inspired by New Haven-style pizza? Source: "And right here in D.C., the owners of two pizzerias, Pete’s Apizza and Comet Ping Pong, decided to draw their inspiration from New Haven—not New York, and not Naples." ([1])
    • ALT1:... that a man shot multiple rounds from an AR-15 style rifle inside Comet Ping Pong while self-investigating the debunked pizzagate conspiracy theory? Source: "A North Carolina man was arrested Sunday after he walked into a popular pizza restaurant in Northwest Washington carrying an assault rifle and fired one or more shots, D.C. police said." [...] "A D.C. police report made public Monday says Welch had been armed with an AR-15 assault-style rifle." ([2])
    • ALT2: ...that the Comet Ping Pong pizzeria's name comes from a sign that one of the cofounders found at a liquor shop?
    • ALT2: ...that after Comet Ping Pong put a ping pong table on the sidewalk, its cofounder was accused of "trying to turn this area into Adams Morgan with the murders and rapes"?

  • Comment: This was previously nominated at this link here, but I failed the QPQ portion and I left editing for about a year. Per this discussion here, it is alright to re-nominate as it is now a GA and has never appeared on the front page. I am super nervous about using ALT1, although I think it's probably the better hook, so I listed it here but would personally prefer the more boring stuff. Leave it up to the reviewer to decide. • Adding here-- I have never nominated a DYK hook with a photo before. Just realized that the photo has to be in the article: I'm 95% sure that it is a cropped version of this photo which *is* in the article, so it should be good to go from that end. Nomader (talk) 19:41, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
  • @Nomader: I am going to review this article. epicgenius (talk) 00:12, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: A cropped version (of the image) is OK. epicgenius (talk) 00:12, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

I think ALT1 is pretty well known. ALT0 isn't really that interesting, in my opinion. How about: (Edit: hooks moved to top. epicgenius (talk) 14:23, 13 February 2018 (UTC))
  • I really like both ALT2's, like the first one more personally. Thanks for the review! Nomader (talk) 04:41, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
  • Oops, the second one was supposed to be ALT3. I will move it up
Anyway, I just realized that the image for the hook needs to be a derivative, or the exact same image. I think I got it, though. So this is good to go. epicgenius (talk) 14:23, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
  • Perfect, thanks! And I really thought that the image I posted was already a cropped version, thanks for putting the work in to fix the issue. Nomader (talk) 14:28, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
