... that Brecon Castle (pictured), built in 1093, was the first stone castle in Wales?- ALT1: ...that Brecon Castle (pictured) was attacked by the Welsh six times in fifty-eight years?
ALT2: ...that Brecon Castle (pictured) was attacked by the Welsh seven times in 188 years?

The article was moved to mainspace on 24 October, a day before the nomination, there is 2.5K of prose and there are no obvious copyright violations. My only quibble is on the hook. The source given, ecastles.co.uk does say it was the first stone castle in Wales, but are we absolutely sure it's the first? I dare say there could be pre-Norman settlements in the area lost to history. Perhaps we could say "the first stone castle in Wales following the Norman Conquest"? Indeed, this book source says the castle was an archetypical example of how the area was changed by the Normans. Or, you could try an ALT with some other fact, such as it being attacked by the Welsh six times in the 13th century. Some food for thought, anyhow. - @Ritchie333: Good points. I'm afraid I can't actually change the article, because that is what the source says, but if that hook is a bit too dubious, I have posted a couple of alt ones above. - @Biblioworm: The problem I see now, from reading the source, it's not explicit that the Welsh attacked the castle that many times; indeed it says ownership changed hands, but it doesn't actually say from who to whom. We know it was attacked and captured in 1215, which implies it changed from Norman to Welsh ... then it was captured in 1264 and recaptured the following year - who had ownership then? - @Ritchie333: The source by Breverton (Wales: A Historical Companion) seems to clarify that it was attacked by the Welsh six times between 1215 and 1273. I'll strike ALT2 and go with ALT1 instead, since it's the most verifiable. --Biblioworm 16:44, 28 October 2015 (UTC)
