Anthony Davis

  • ... that Anthony Davis (pictured) was unknown locally and nationally through his junior year of high school basketball?

  • I suggest waiting for this hook as long as possible. I want to put some descriptors in front of his name, but don't know which will be appropriate. We will know within a month. The following are things that could describe him in the near future:
  1. SEC Freshman/Player of the Year
  2. National Freshman of the Year
  3. National Player of the Year
  4. Consensus All-American
  5. National Defensive Player of the Year
  6. National blocked shots leader
  7. Kentucky could easily play as many as 10 more games (through the finals of the SEC and NCAA tournaments). He has 140 blocks and is averaging 4.7 per game. Records on the horizon. SEC single-season blocks - 170, National Freshman single-season blocks - 182.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 16:19, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
  8. He may also be within reach of Kentucky/SEC freshman single-season rebounds records.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 16:23, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
(ALT1)... that 2012 National Player of the Year Anthony Davis (pictured) was unknown locally and nationally through his junior year of high school basketball?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 19:04, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
I guess it is time to consider whether we want this to run during one of his NCAA tournament games or in conjunction with either the Wooden or Naismith announcement dates. If we want this to run during a game without risk of Kentucky being eliminated first, we should do it either Friday or Sunday. However, given the high likelihood that he will win the Wooden and/or the Naismith, we could hold off and wait. Even if Kentucky loses a game this weekend, we could run it in conjunction with one of those announcements. We could also wait until next week since we have these award dates as backstops with the hopes of running this during a final four game day. Comments welcome.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 19:04, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
My thinking is if Kentucky wins on Saturday, run this Monday night. Else, run it Sunday in conjunction with the Naismith Award. Thoughts?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 20:26, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
Sunday may be problematic, given that it's April 1 and all the April Fools material will be running then. The odds are the queues will be full and slipping something extra in will be difficult. And even if it isn't, that might not be the best day to run a serious DYK. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:18, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Tuesday might be O.K. since the National Defensive Player of the year, is usually announced after the championship game, I believe. I have to check. Hopefully, all this will be moot and Kentucky will win on Saturday.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:29, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Comment: Cut out the state abbreviations (Fort Wayne, IN). "Davis is the son of Anthony Davis, Sr. He has a twin sister, Antoinnete and an older sister, Iesha who plays basketball at Daley College." is uncited. Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:50, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
  • Hook: Interesting, short enough, cited
Article: New enough, long enough, FN57 is a bare URL. Paraphrasing check is okay.
Summary: Hold for format issues. Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:35, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

I have removed the bare URL. Is that the only format issue?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 05:52, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

P.S. Please evaluate the Alt hooks. The original is not what should be presented now that he has won so many awards.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 05:54, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
  • Good to go, all hooks verified. Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:25, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
