Ann Hawkes Hay[edit]

Created by Zeete (talk). Self-nominated at 23:53, 21 February 2016 (UTC).

  • Created on 15 Feb., nom on 21 Feb/new enough. 1886 char/long enough. Neutral. Cited. No apparent copyvios. QPQ done. No image. Hook at 113 char/under maximum. Interesting. The only issue I see is the "Scotsman" claim. Colcock confirms his Jamaican birth, that his father was Scottish, but his mother was Jamaican. Article claims he was American and Founders Online source confirms he fought for the American forces as "colonel in the Orange County militia". I see nothing that confirms he was Scottish. That he lost his home to raiders is confirmed. SusunW (talk) 20:54, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
  • @SusunW: Colcock describes in detail his long lineage from Clan Hay of Scotland. The Hay of Erroll coat of arms is featured at the start of the book. "Scotsman" was a reference to that lineage at his birth. Zeete (talk) 21:39, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
  • Zeete I'm not trying to be difficult. I get that his heritage is Scottish, but I don't get that he is. Unless he had Scottish citizenship or lived there at some point, isn't he just "of Scotch descent"? SusunW (talk) 21:55, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
